'It's not right they're having to live in a situation like this'

SEATAC, Wash. -- Bed bugs were crawling all over their home, but a local elderly couple could not afford to pay an exterminator.
So the Problem Solvers teamed up with experts to help the pair.
Exterminator Michele Cruzat's heart broke when she learned the couple could not afford an exterminator
"I saw the worst case of bed bug infestation I've seen in the last couple years, and I've see quite a few," said Cruzat of Eden Advanced Pest Technologies.
The bugs are everywhere in the couple's home.
"I wanted to do whatever I could to help these people get rid of their problem," Cruzat said.
Cruzat shared news of the couple's problem with her boss Rob Breznen, who needed to see the infestation for himself. It didn't take him long to confirm just how bad it was.
"It looks like you probably have them under the carpets as well, the wall voids, under the sofas," Breznen said after examining the home. "It's a heavy infestation."
The bed bugs are crawling all over the bed the couple had been sleeping in. They've even moved into the bed the pair bought just a day ago.
"This is somebody's grandparents -- could be my grandparents, could be your grandparents. And it's not right they're having to live in a situation like this," said Breznen.
The Problem Solvers worked with the couple's state guardian to get permission to help. And Eden sealed the deal with a generous offer.
"We'd be willing to come and do this free of charge for you," said Breznen.
Neighbors said criminals had drained the couple's life's savings and had stolen valuables, including their truck. Now the couple will get the most advanced pest control treatment valued at $3,000, and all because someone cared.
"Even just running a story like this will maybe motivate somebody else to want to help somebody else and kind of pay it forward a little bit," said Cruzat.
The couple are also now getting a lot of assistance from the agency appointed to serve as their guardian.

What a hearfelt story!

I understand it was the guardian's first day of the job. What a rough one!
So good to see that there is a company with enough compassion that they are willing  to help this couple for free, not many  companies like this out there anymore. God will bless them many times over.Â
What a great and generous company!! Thank you!
This is one of the many reasons why I love the company I work for now.

It's sad that it took things getting this bad before they got assistance from the agency that is supposed to be acting as their guardians.
Fine effort and two thumbs up.

It sounds like they had guardians before the Problem Solvers stepped in to help. Where were the guardians during this time and why weren't they helping? Why did it take the Problem Solvers stepping in to get these poor people the help they needed?
Did they have guardians when they were robbed of their life savings and valuables? If so, the guardians need to be looked at a lot closer.
Kudos to Michele Cruzat and Eden Advanced! All involved have gotten a lot of well deserved Karma credit!
Komo please let us know what we can do to help this couple.Â
I am a furniture rep in the NW and I would like to provide new furniture for this couple. Please contact me to work out details.
@furnrep Thank you for offering to help these folks.
Here is a company with a sense of community and of compassion! Great job !
This is a great story. We all need to help each other. And way to go getting the agency to do their part that they obviously were not doing in the first place. Don't tell me our government can't help our citizens when their wasting all kinds of money.Get with it USA government, take care of your people & not the illegals !!!!!
Way to go @Michele Cruzat! You are always for the underdog!!! What comfort you have received give to others! That is how you roll girl!!!
@Christine Cooper Gregg  @Michele Aw...thanks, Christine...you have ALWAYS been so kind to me and helped me and my boys when I was down and out!
@MicheleC  @Christine Cooper Gregg  @Michele You are a fine example to others. Thank you for doing this, and I hope it generates a lot of new business for your company.
This is the kind of story that reminds us all that we are, in fact, our brother's keeper. Eden Advanced Pest Technologies will reap many rewards from this act of kindness.
This is a great story! So cool that Eden Advanced Pest Technologies volunteered to help this elderly couple. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and generosity! I would send lots of business to you...if I knew of anyone with bug infestation issues.
There's an easier way to get rid of these monsters without the TOXIC chemicals and high cost of exterminators and repeat applications that they clearly state is needed on their websites. It is called Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth. This product is non-toxic to people and pets and is even used as an internal pesticide for farm animals. Pull the mattress off the frame, cover it in a bedbug proof cover and then LIBERALLY coat every carpeted surface including under the mattress with the DE. Every bedbug will crawl through the DE and will DIE because the DE will slice up their exoskeleton like glass. Leave the DE down for however long the life cycle of a bedbug is and do not remove the mattress cover for an entire year since that is how long one of these monsters can live without a meal!
Yes this does work! I sadly had a close friend bring them into my home and we cannot use the toxic chemicals due to extreme sensitivities. We have been bug free for over a year now!
@MHunt This is a good suggestion, and an effective one, this solution may work for small and early infestations, however late and established infestations require a substantial knowledge of the products you use as well as the organism, are not so readily reduced by insecticidal dusts. i am well aware of peoples sensitivities to products used in the field for bed bug work and trust me when i say that Eden's chemicals are almost completely undetectable to even the most sensitive of people. nothing against Mhunt but, do not believe the social phobias against insecticides used by the "well trained" (such as Eden), you would be surprised at the everyday chemicals that are far more toxic than anything that they use. any questions call their technical director, he is very knowledgeable and will genuinely try to help you and not just "sell" you.
@MHunt thank you for mentioning another alternative for people with this issue.
Nice to see a business owner who actually cares.
This is awesome. It's sad that the infestation had to get that bad before they could get help but I'm happy to hear that they are finally getting help.

Thank you Eden Advanced Pest Technologies.
I love to hear stories about the goodness and generosity in people. I hope this couple will be able to live out their lives in their home, and be bed-bug free, thanks to the kindness and caring of these people.
