Kayaker who overturned in Green River dies

RAVENSDALE, Wash. - A woman who was in critical condition after her kayak flipped over Sunday on the Green River has died, King County sheriff's officials said.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, had launched her kayak at Kanaskat-Palmer Recreation Area near Ravensdale. Her friends were able to pull her from the river after her kayak flipped and get her to shore.

Medics were called in while her companions administered CPR. She was taken to an Auburn hospital in critical condition, but died Monday morning, officials said. An autopsy will be conducted to determine her exact cause of death.

Officials said the woman was wearing a life jacket and was properly equipped. Her name has not been released.
