Killer of Clallam County deputy dies in prison

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) - The man who killed a Clallam County sheriff's deputy a dozen years ago has died in prison.
The Department of Corrections says Thomas Martin Roberts died Wednesday night at the Monroe Correctional Complex, apparently of natural causes. He was 66.
The Peninsula Daily News reports he was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for an aggravated murder conviction in the 2000 death of Deputy Wally Davis.
Davis was ambushed as he responded to a report of a disturbance at Roberts' home. Davis knew Roberts and had responded to disturbances at the home in the past.
After the shooting, Roberts barricaded himself in his house and was arrested after a 25-hour standoff.

And this is news why? I could care less if this idiot dies, just one less mouth to feed as a tax payer.
I'm sure his cell won't go unoccupied for long.
Should have taken care of this trash in the stand off.
Â
With the national overall average spent on death row awaiting execution being about
twelve years, it seems that he might fit right into that scheduling.
He was given a life sentence but looking at the statistical numbers, it worked out to be
about the same.
The Lady Justice may as blind as the famous statue would have one believe.
He killed the wrong cop.
@notez2cme-so, are you suggesting he should have killed a different one?
@Andrew Williams There are some out there that deserve a hot-one in the head, perhaps this cop didn't is all I'm saying. So yes, he killed the wrong one. If you think all cops deserve to go home after a shift; you are sleep walking.
No loss here.
Too bad the article didn't cover more of Deputy Wally Davis.
I never met the man, but when I was in law enforcement I "met" him by reading one of his published books which dealt with cop stress using the tool of humor.
He was a fine writer, and a helluva funny guy. Law enforcement and the community lost a funny, compassionate man when he was killed.
To this day, I wonder if his compassion led to his death.
RIP Wally Davis.
He should have been executed 11 years ago.
YAY!!!
I'm glad he didn't live a long life. I hope it was a painful "Natural cause" death.Â
@Seahawker I hope it was a 'natural cause' caused by multiple stab wounds.  Glad he is a goner.
Multiple stab wounds wouldn't be natural cause.. too bad he didn't suffer from massive internal hemorraging..
