Deputies: Kittitas teen had shot self
KITTITAS, Wash. - Schools in the town of Kittitas were locked down earlier Thursday after a 17-year-old student who was shot off campus arrived at Kittitas Secondary School morning seeking help for a gunshot wound.
The student, who had been shot in the chest, was rushed to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigators later determined the wound had been self-inflicted.
Kittitas County Undersheriff Clay Myers said it appears the shooting happened at about 10:30 a.m. in a residential neighborhood east of the school grounds.
School staff immediately initiated lockdown procedures and called local law enforcement agencies, which responded and secured and searched both the Secondary School and the nearby Elementary School to verify that no further threats were present.
The school lockdown was later lifted, and normal after-school activities will resume this evening, said Principal Chris Brower. School will be on regular schedule on Friday.

I think someone needs Therapy if he did this on purpose. If not then why have a gun on you at that time? What was your plan?Â
anyone thought that this kid shot himself at home on accident and then went to school? i mean there's no description of the offender, he was at school late. not sure wtf they mean by a 17 year old in middle school but yeah... it doesnt sound right to me.
 @DylanJ It Kittitas the school is middle/ high school is from 7th or 8th grade through 12th not  like in other places where its elementry (k-5) middle (6-8) and high school (9-12). But normally every one there refers to it as the High school
Aren't 17-year-olds supposed to already be at school at 10:30?
@Table9 I know plenty of 17 year old seniors when I was in high school that arrived late because they were caught up with their credits required to graduate.
Well, I guess at 17 you may be a Senior and have a waiver?
