Lawsuit against Kyron Horman stepmother delayed

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A judge has granted a delay in the civil lawsuit filed by the mother of Kyron Horman against the woman she holds responsible for his disappearance.
KGW-TV and The Oregonian report that Multnomah County Judge Henry Kantor approved the motions for a delay sought by District Attorney Michael Schrunk and Sheriff Dan Staton.
The motions seeking the delay have been sealed by the judge. However, Staton tells The Oregonian there are some developments in the criminal inquiry into the boy's disappearance.
The sheriff says those new "investigative avenues" are based on information collected early in the investigation. He didn't elaborate.
Desiree Young sued Kyron's stepmother, Terri Horman, on June 1. She alleges that Terri Horman kidnapped Kyron and asks the court to order her to return him or say where his body is located.
Kyron Horman was 7 when he disappeared from school in June 2010. No arrests have been made.

I pray for this young boys family that he is either returned safe(although highly unlikely) or at least have his body to bury(or cremate) to have some closure. I cannot imagine the heartache and pain his parents endure daily not knowing where their child is. I am not so sure I could handle this situation personally and I certainly would never wish anything like this on even the most vile person in the world. NO parent should ever have to know this pain.
This lawsuit makes absolutely no sense when you think about it. If Terri hasn't come forward by this point to offer information and it is her intention to keep quiet if she does know then just having a day in court isn't going to change that. I'm sure that the frustration the parents feel is incredible, but either Terri doesn't know or she's not going to tell what she knows. You can't make someone incriminate themselves.
@Jatok You may want to run that by OJ. He has not spent jail time, but his way of life has been hit hard. If that is all you can do, then so be it. Just don't let them get away completely.Â
@oldster70 Well, like it or not at least OJ had a trial, this lady hasn't even been to trial or charged. Perhaps the jury did make a mistake in OJs conviction, but if we are going to determine people guilty without a trial then I guess they may as well just lock this woman up with a life sentence. Either we believe in a right to a fair trial or we don't.....pure and simple.
I find the objections of LE to be a bit strange, considering the apparent lack of progress on their part. If they do have something, I hope they start showing some progress. I think we have to assume they do have something, at least enough to convince the judge to agree with a delay. I think that the weak link is Terriâs friend who repeatedly took the â5thâ while being questioned. I donât think she has as much protection in a civil trial.    Â
It's just funny how no one else in the system seems to be interested on finding out what happened to him. Nobody ever wants to hold the step mother accountable, or even question her... this whole thing is just completely screwed up. Just like whatever happened to Sky.
The justice system is doing this family NO favors. Desiree and Kaine deserve answers and Terri is their best hope for that. If the Sheriff and prosecutor have evidence (collected early in the investigation), why aren't they doing something? Do we have to endure another "Josh Powell" episode? How long will Kaine and Desiree be able to stand the sight of this woman without lashing out? Society should not have endure these types of dramas. Get the investigation moved to another stage or tell us you have nothing and intend to do DO NOTHING to find this little boy. This is as bad as the Sky Metalwala tragedy!

This is so awful that a mom has to be put through so much BS to get the answers that she needs and wants. Stepmother better open her eyes and see that a mothers love will never stop, so she better just give up and stop playing games. Unless she wants to do this all her life.Â
I suspect that these "developments in the criminal inquiry", whatever they are, would have sat on a back burner had it not been for this civil action.
@johnbe "based on information collected early in the investigation." I'm guessing you are correct!
@DarkParty : I'm sure the LEOs don't want to have to testify in court that they didn't look into "that".
