Man allegedly steals from high school's Class of 2013 bank account

CHEHALIS, Wash. -- A 43-year-old Chehalis resident is accused of stealing more than $8,000 from a bank account set up for the senior class at W.F. West High School.

According to the Chehalis Police Department, a number of parents complained in January that the Class of 2013 bank account had less money in it than they thought it should have.

An investigation revealed that the husband of the woman in charge of the account had used it to sign 14 checks ranging from $275 to $950 between June 2012 and September 2012, according to police.

When the woman in charge of the account learned about the theft, she paid back the $8,200 allegedly stolen by her husband.

The Lewis County Prosecutor's Office will now perform its own audit of the account.

The husband is potentially facing forgery and theft charges.
