Man arrested after woman found with slashed throat
MOUNT VERNON, Wash. - Authorities have arrested a 30-year-old Burlington man hours after a blood-soaked woman walked out of woods south of Bellingham with her throat cut.
Skagit County Undersheriff Tom Molitor says the suspect, who was in a domestic relationship with the victim, was arrested Saturday in Eastern Washington. The man will be transferred to Skagit County either Saturday or Sunday.
Molitor says the 20-year-old victim crawled from a wooded area along Nulle Road near the Whatcom-Skagit County line where she had been assaulted and left for dead. A citizen called after noon Friday to report finding her.
The woman was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham where she is expected to recover. Molitor says she suffered severe cuts to her throat and substantial blood loss. She has not been able to talk to investigators.
The names of the victim and suspect have not been released.
Molitor said it is believed the suspect acted alone and there is no further danger to the public.

This type of act needs to be punished severely. He should be tried for murder and be sentenced to death or at least life in prison without parole and koolaid. Put this sucker away quickly or make him suffer. Either way, NEVER let him out on the streets again. He probably thinks he's Jason Voorhees. Won't be so tough when he faces Bubba and guys like the 425-pound gangster. Poor woman, hope she makes a full recovery both mentally and physically.
This sounds like another case where the SOB should be tried for murder, not attempted murder. He thought he had killed her. The victim only lived because she was tough enough to make it to where someone luckily found her in time. He is the same person he would have been had she died. Physically he committed murder, only she did not die. He should not be tried for a lesser crime just because she was tough enough to live. Â
Sure, but it would never happen in real life. No corpse, no murder.

 @Alikelystorey Yes I know........:~{
Dirty laundry. Komo only prints stories about what people do. It is devoid of stories about who we are electing & what our governments are doing. Washingtonians are not stupid. We don't live in ignorance because we are inept. We live this way, buried in government despotism because our medias exist only to show us the failure of our own ways, in order that we might create more government.
Â
Washingtonians are treated like mushrooms by their medias. We are kept in the dark & fed nothing but b.s..Â
Â
Everybody in Washington quick vote on what you know nothing about! & quick look at how stupid you've become in the mean time. Man arrested, woman slashed throat.
Â
I would be shocked if anyone in Washington State knew anything about their governments, or who they vote for. Seriously, there is something very wrong with our medias.
@Libertyinfinite It's not just Washington or KOMO, it's everywhere. If someone started making real information accessible, they'd be swamped with readers. The news media is not interested in giving information on these subjects, they make it pretty obvious who and what they support but that's as far as it goes with them.
@Willow  @Libertyinfinite I disagree. Whenever news media report substance they are unable to survive. Sensational stories are common in the media because people eat them up. Advertisers know this and, in turn, spend millions of dollars in sponsorships for cable news networks. If you look at news media that do not depend on advertising revenue, or the viewers that are required with ad revenues, the difference in the quality of content is clearly evident. PBS would never last if they didn't receive public funds and donations. The BBC receives a lot more of it's funding from their government. Of course, government funded news media are not always ideal but my point is that the only reason there is so little substance on the news, particularly on cable news, is because those networks are going to see a lot more advertising revenue if they continue to show what is popular. Unfortunately, the Sean Hannity's, Keith Olbermann's and Nancy Grace's are always more popular than stories about famine in East Africa or a war in a country that most Americans have never heard of.
if you dont like what komo news reports on then go to kiro or king.
some of us actually like to know whats going on in our neighborhoods.
@Greg Garland But not in our government....
@Robinsnest  @Greg Garland I need to know both. And, it's all connected.
I know we have good people here in Washington, however this kind of story and the caregiver stealing a million from a 107 yr old lady and wasnt even feeding her, sure makes me wonder about this place sometimes.Cant we just speed the executions up a little for some of these scum.Like say uh Jury says guilty and drag him to the gallows like 5 minutes later. On the no brainer crimes at least...................hang em high
Glad they got that monster quick.
How terrifying for her... beyond a Halloween nightmare! I would like to thank police for the speedy capture of this sub-human garbage.... Please enforce the Death Penalty.... America can no longer afford the aprox. $56,000 or so dollars it takes to house these demons per year.... Is the Devil in charge of this country and is building their personal army or what? because one would think so by not enforcing the Death Penalty!
@Funky-Munky The death penalty in this state is for all practical purposes off the table since the Gary Ridgeway trial. They can't justify sentencing somebody else to death when they let a man who is guilty of at least 50 murders skate by with life in prison. The courts can't justify the obscene discrepancy in punishment.
@Petwlkr Ugh! Rape, Murder, Attempted etc. those should all be punishable by death.... I know it isn't reality... something needs to change.
@Funky-Munky even if they enforce the death penalty, the likelihood of them actually being executed is very low.
@scuttlebutt  @Funky-Munky Let the woman's dad or brothers have a go at him.
@Blindman  @anon4444  @scuttlebutt  @Funky-Munky I would modify your suggestion of a GPS bracelet just a slight bit. Put it around his "junk" with a very tight industrial zip-tie.
@anon4444   @Funky-Munky Let her mother go after him. That would be worse than her dad or brothers. This of course coming from a mother.
That would be justice, but thats not what laws are for any more. Put an unremovable gps anklet on him, give the family the frequency and let them deal with this guy. Housing people like this for decades solves nothing.  @anon4444  @scuttlebutt  @Funky-Munky
