Woman raped in home-invasion robbery while toddler slept

BURIEN, Wash. -- Two armed robbers forced their way into a home where they assaulted a man and raped a woman all while a toddler was asleep in the home, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred at a home in the 10800 block of Sixth Ave. S. at approximately 9 p.m. Monday.
Investigators said a man who lives at the home had just arrived when two armed men approached him and forced their way into the house. Once inside, the men pistol-whipped the man, deputies said.
A woman who was inside the home was raped, according to investigators.
An 18-month-old toddler was asleep in the home at the time. The child was not injured.
"This is a very, very serious crime," said Sgt. John Hall of the King County Sheriff's Office. "We have two suspects armed with pistols that forced their way into an apartment."
The armed men ransacked the home before taking off with several items. They were described as two black men between 19 and 25 years old and between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9 in height.

I am sure that all you libs are relieved that the homeowners were unarmed otherwise they might have hurt these poor misguided criminals.

 @SureHandz Would just like to see a judicial system that takes the wishes of the victims into account. If that isn't addressed then its really not justice is it. If the guy gets convicted let the victims help decide what the punishment should be. Some might just want money, some might want to make them perform hard labor. Whatever it is let the victims have some closure.

Then these people that were dismembered would sue us taxpayers, win, because for the life of me I can't figure out why a jury of their peers would reward someone for doing something wrong, after all it is taxpayer money we are talking about. This is why every home-owner should be armed whenever opening their door, whether coming home or from the inside. Hell, you have to be armed all the time now.Â

If you want to carry for your own piece of mind, that's your decision, but it wasn't my point. My point is that this incident isn't evidence of anything we need to panic over. These things happen. It is terrible, but unfortunately they happen. It is not indicative of some larger trend, however.Â

You know, every day of the week, horrific stories like this hit the news, Nothing will change until the conscious, moral fiber of this country, its citizens, and especially our laws, takes drastic changes. There are plenty of citizens who hold a ZERO tolerance for violent crime. Now, when, oh when, are our lawmakers going to take the same stance. We live in a hug-a-thug society with lenient laws, big government spending on courts, lawyers, and prisons; when it COULD be oh, so different if we take a much stricter approach.Why are we tolerating these behaviors and lax laws?

Society took discipline out of our schools and homes, decades ago. There is really no mystery why these crimes are happening. It's a darn shame, but nothing will change until we demand a ZERO tolerance for thugs like these.

Forming some kind of anti-crime militia wouldn't teach anyone a lesson. You really think these kind of people would care if you tried to be tough with them? Vengeance isn't a deterrent. In fact, you can't do much to deter it anyway. There will always be these kind of people. Always has been, always will be. The only thing you could really do is try to tackle the problem at its source to prevent these kind of people from becoming what they are. Social changes. Economic stability. They are fairly easily identified, with rap sheets as long as your arm and an escalating ferocity over the timeline. As you noted, the threat of vengeance is little deterent as is the "threat" of free three hots and a cot for a time, complete with strength training and learning from one's peers.

No matter WHAT you do for the environment, home lives, government handouts (Welfare anyone?, Seen how THAT great experiment is working lately??) to make lives "better", you will STILL get the goblins. You will NEVER get past them. Therefore cull them earlier in the process as they are UNWILLING to get with the structure of society. Nothing emotional about it, pure cause-effect. There will be some who decide that the risk-benefit calculation is NOT in their best interest, and will hew to the law...and there are those who wont. Those who wont, once proven (3 strikes?) then either warehouse them or be done with them. The cost, both human and financial to leaving them out running around is far in excess to that of getting rid of them.

The US is well known for its violent crime (Rape, Murder, etcetc) and less for petty crime while many other countries with worse social and economic issues are better known for petty crime and not the violent crime. People need to realize that this going on several times a day, every day and are only hearing of it 2% of the time. Time has come to sit with a loaded shotgun aimed at the front door if you want to change statistics.
 @jowsuf Yes they DO happen every day, multiple times a day. What you see in the news is literally just a small percentage of crimes reported to the police. You CANNOT go by what the news decides to report to you.
You should talk with a few law enforcement officers about what the world is REALLY like.

 @T_BONE_WALKER I'm not sure what numbers you're looking at, but there are just as many violent crime filled countries as there are the opposite in bad social and economic situations. Many north African countries come to mind, as do some eastern European countries and south American countries. The US isn't some strange exception to violent crime rates. Also, these kind of crimes that happened in this article DO NOT happen several times a day every day. They absolutely do not. That's why when it happens you see it in the news. It's a big deal.Â
