Man injured, 2 women missing after head-on crash in Federal Way

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Police are looking for two women who fled the scene of a head-on crash that critically injured a man in another vehicle Thursday night in Federal Way.

Officers responded to the scene, in the 1100 block of SW Campus Drive in Federal Way, at about 10:35 p.m. after receiving a report of a serious crash, said Cathy Schrock of the Federal Way police.

When police and medics arrived at the scene, they found the 27-year-old driver of a truck critically injured just outside the driver's side door of his vehicle. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, and is now improving after emergency treatment.

An abandoned car that had slammed head-on into the truck also was found at the scene. Witnesses told police that two women jumped out of the car after the crash. They walked away from the crash scene and were immediately picked up by another vehicle.

Hospitals were notified to be aware of two women seeking treatment for injuries from the crash.

Police later said the woman suspected of driving the car is the registered owner of the vehicle. She is described as white, about 18 years old, standing about 5-feet-2-inches, with blond hair.

Police also said the passenger who fled with her left her purse behind on the car seat. She was described as a white woman, about 20 to 22 years old, about 5-feet-2-inches tall.

Their names were not immediately released.
