Man shot dead during gunfight outside Tacoma party
TACOMA, Wash. - An argument outside an after-hours party escalated into gunfire early Sunday, leaving one man dead with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
The victim was identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner as Bruce Price, 40, of Tacoma.
Officers responded to the scene, near 23rd Street and S. Fawcett Avenue, at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving 911 calls about multiple shots fired and people fleeing the area, said Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum.
Arriving at the scene, officers and medics found the victim lying in an alley with several bullet wounds. He was rushed to St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Witnesses told police the incident started at an after-hours party that was being held inside a nearby building, Fulghum said.
An argument broke out among party-goers which became violent, with numerous shots being fired. So far, police have found only one victim of the gunfire.
Detectives have interviewed a number of witnesses and are trying to locate other witnesses who fled prior to police arriving. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tacoma police.
No arrests have been made yet, and no information is available about the shooter or shooters at this time, Fulghum said.
