One man injured in North Beacon Hill shootout

SEATTLE -- Police say a man was shot in the leg during a Thursday night gunfight inside a North Beacon Hill home.
At roughly 8:20 p.m., officers responded to a call of a robbery with shots fired in the 2300 block of 24th Avenue South. When they arrived, they found a man in his early 20s who had been shot in the leg.
According to Seattle police Det. Jeff Kappel, the incident began when three men knocked on the door and were let inside.
An argument then ensured between those three men and the victim, which led to one of the visitors shooting the homeowner. The homeowner then grabbed a shotgun and fired off at least one round.
It's unclear if any of the three men were injured.
The three visitors then fled the scene, and officers haven't been able to track them down.
Police say the victim and three others who were inside the house at the time have not been forthcoming with detectives.
The shooting victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and the investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE: An earlier version of this story indicated the shooting was part of a home-invasion robbery, which is how officers on scene originally described it.

Another fine example of the lack of justice coming out of our city (ie lousy mayor and city council) and state.(lousy legislature and governor)
Since KOMO didn't provide descriptions, and the fact that the witnesses and victim weren't "forthcoming", I think it's safe to assume that this is simply more black on black crime that's politically incorrect to bring up.
Â
Anyone want to bet that this was over drugs?
"the street in question is normally quite"
Â
Yes komo, my street 'quite quiet'.
Â
In an effort to be the first online to report an incident that includes gunfire, you have obviously forgotten editing and factual information. I'll wait to see what the story actually is.
Â
Misinforming the public to best your competitors has never been a part of the Fourth Estate.
There has to be something else to this story.
I do NOT agree with Neil Low said he wouldn't encourage homeowners to get into gun battles with robbers!
The cops will not be there until after you are robbed! And even after the fact a robbery most likely will go unsolved! So I suggest to arm yourself, and DO protect yourself, your family and property with a gun!
Apparently this must be part of the national "talking points'Â for police...
Â
San Jose PD scolds people that try to defend their property:
http://www.guns.com/california-police-want-gun-owners-to-comply-with-robbers-11522.html
Assuming that everything at the home was law-abiding and all, I would recommend that homeowners (or even homerenters) get involved in some time at a range to improve their "gun control".
Â
Police are not really able to "prevent crime", they are there to investigate crime and work to prevent "repeat crime" by the same offenders. Before anyone is jailed, they victimize at least one person (insert reference to Minority Report). The trick is to not be that person.
Â
Since the penalty now is some jail time (if caught), it is apparently not enough to deter some crooks, so perhaps if the penalty was "potential death during the crime", they would be deterred.
If armed people violently break into your home, why would you assume it's only over money?
"Do you want to engage in something and escalate it to where now you're fighting for your life?"
No, I'd want to escalate it into something where the robbers were fighting for their lives.
Â
@My_Thoughts Absolutely.  The motive for the person(s) involved in the home invasion is unknown to the occupants.  Are they there to kill or rape his wife or daughter(s).  How does the homeowner or tenant know in advance?  For this police Capt to try to argue the homeowner who is lawfully protecting his family and property is the person responsible for the escalation of the situation, that is totally wrong.  Obviously in this case the robbers were armed when they entered.  In the same situation, is the Seattle Police Capt going to take his advice or do the common sense thing and protect himself and his family.  From a police Capt, a statement like that is disgraceful as obviously he has forgot about the rights of the victims in this incident and in this case too, the homeowner was the one who was shot.
@My_Thoughts See the article in the Bellingham Herald regarding a 75 year old man hold robbers at gunpoint until police arrived.  http://www.bellinghamherald.com/2012/11/27/2781885/police-bellingham-man-75-holds.html
Four against three and not one of the attempted robbery suspects where hit? Sounds like a bad version of the original A-Team shootout scenes
I assure you, there is a lot more to this story. Home invasions are almost never random.Â
too bad they missed, hope they are not back for retaliation
