Gunman sought after man shot multiple times in Beacon Hill

SEATTLE -- A man was critically injured in a shooting in Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood late Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the 2400 block of S. Columbian Way around 5:40 p.m.

Police said the victim was in front of his house when he was confronted by the gunman. The gunman opened fire, hitting the victim several times before taking off on foot. Witnesses saw a small black car leaving the area at the time of the shooting, but police don't yet know if the driver has anything to do with crime.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries in critical condition. The 38-year-old man was not identified.

The gunman remained at large, and a description was not provided.
