Man stabbed multiple times near Victor Steinbrueck Park

SEATTLE -- One man is in the hospital and another is on the run after a Wednesday evening stabbing near a popular Seattle park.

Police responded to a report of a stabbing just before 6 p.m. in the 1900 block of Western Avenue, near Victor Steinbrueck Park.

When they arrived, officers found a man in his 20s near the edge of the park with multiple stab wounds. He had been stabbed several times in the torso and once in the leg, according to police.

As police and medics tried to help the man, they say he resisted and became "physically combative," according to police.

He eventually settled down and was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be treated for his non-life threatening injuries.

Police searched the area for the attacker, but he has so far managed to elude capture. Police have not released a description of the attacker.
