SEATTLE - A 45-year-old man was stabbed twice in the torso Thursday morning during a fight on the sidewalk in Belltown, and a suspect was apprehended with his face covered in blood, officials said.

The incident unfolded at about 3:40 a.m. when an officer on patrol saw the 45-year-old and another man fighting near the southwest corner of 3rd Avenue and Bell Street. As he rolled up, the two men stopped fighting.

The 45-year-old man was found to have two puncture wounds to his torso. Medics responded to the scene and transported him to Harborview Medical Center. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The other man, in his 20s, had a bloody face from injuries sustained during the fight. The injuries were not caused by a knife or other sharp instrument, but the man was taken to Harborview for treatment of minor injuries.

There was no knife recovered at the scene. However, a witness told officers that a third man was seen walking away from the two fighters and may have had the weapon. This third person is unidentified and remains at large.

The incident remains under investigation.
