Bloody Lewis Co. hotel room leads to fatal shooting in Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A man is dead in what Yakima police are calling an officer-involved shooting that has a connection to a bloody hotel room in Lewis County.
Yakima police said they were contacted by the Lewis County Sheriff's Office around 10 a.m. Wednesday after cleaning staff at a local hotel found blood in a room of a man who had checked out sometime earlier.
Deputies learned the man was from Yakima and contacted officers there, who went to the man's home.
Police said they heard a commotion in the backyard when they arrived and found a man with a gun in the backyard. Shots were fired by both an officer and the man with the gun, police said, but the man ultimately turned the gun on himself and fired. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were hurt.
Police have not released the man's identity. It's also unclear what happened at the hotel room in Lewis County.

YAKIMA, Wash. â Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins has identified a man police said killed himself in a confrontation Wednesday morning at a Yakima mobile home park.
Hawkins identified the man as 55-year-old Joseph Ricard, who lived with his mother at the scene of the shooting on North 34th Avenue. An autopsy will be performed Friday.
Police said the shooting at Chesterley Meadows Mobile Park occurred after a pair of officers were sent to Ricardâs home to check on his welfare. Authorities in Lewis County reported a maid at a motel in the Packwood area had discovered a large amount of blood in a motel room rented by Ricard.

As for the blood in the motel room, Light said Ricardâs left forearm was bandaged and that it appeared he had tried to kill himself earlier, perhaps by slitting his wrist.

Weird. Hope that he didn't hurt or kill someone before he got into the shootout with the cops.
Obviously judging by the daily news... There are many loose canons going off! pathetic. Go kill yourself on a boat out at sea and fall overboard so the fish can get some kibble and nobody has to clean up your mess... losers.
I'm going to guess he did something bad. I hope they can find out what and who was involved.
