Memorial held at JBLM for slain soldier

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — A 24-year-old soldier killed when an Afghani intelligence officer detonated a vest inside a military complex has been remembered at a memorial service at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Military officials say Spc. Brittany B. Gordon of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Oct. 13, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when the suicide bomber attacked. Gordon and other soldiers were delivering furniture to an intelligence office when the explosion happened.
Gordon's family, friends and fellow soldiers gathered for the memorial Wednesday. Her father sobbed as he touched his daughter's embroidered name on her helmet.
Gordon was a member of the 2nd Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.

Angie:..Well said.Thankyou........
KOMO, please change the headline. The headline makes it sound as though the soldier died in a murder. An appropriate headline would be "Memorial held at JBLM for solder who died in action".

My condolences to the family and fellow soldiers. As a former soldier, losing a brother/sister in arms is like losing a member of your own family. There is a bond there that only those who have served together understand.
My condolences to your friends and family. Thank you for your service to our country. Rest in peace.
My deepest condolences to the family of this soldier. SPC.Brittany Gorden may you rest easy young soldier and to the family of this fine Soldier may you find comfort from those around you at this sad and sorrow filled time.
