Mill Creek church's rap music video is a 'little different'

MILL CREEK, Wash. - A local music video has people clicking and cringing after it was posted online. But this music group's plan isn't about the money - it's all about the praise.
It has the lights, the lyrics, and bumping base. It has the flowing rhymes and bit of bling. If you didn't know any better you'd say this is a rock concert ...
But a trio from the Gold Creek Community Church in Mill Creek is actually stepping into a new genre - a call to worship.
Larry, Dan and Blake spent 100 hours creating the video for their congregation. It's a bold move designed to reinforce a message.
"Everyone's getting back to school and back to sports, and we just wanted our people to think - not just get back to church as well, but get back to church and make it a part of your everyday life," says church leader Blake Caldwell. "So we thought, 'Hey, what better way to do that than putting ourselves out there and doing a rap?"
Sporting hoodies, chains and a few mean mugs, the trio is looking to make a statement by dropping rhymes, even a few dance moves.
The lyrics are all their own, but as for the moves, they took tips from some of hip-hop's heavy hitters, like the Beastie Boys, Mr. T and Vanilla Ice.
And yes, they're the first to admit it's a little different.
Dan Kellogg says, "Driving down the road in Mill Creek with the cameras mounted on the car and us dressed like rappers was a little awkward."
The video has more than 1,600 views so far on YouTube.
They call it a fun plug for praise. While it grabs eyeballs, they don't mind if some can't help but smile, and shake their heads.
There may be more raps in their future. This one was relatively easy - they wrote that rap rhythm in just three hours.

Actually I am a neighbor and the bass is nothing.......the complaining neighbors must not be very happy people in general. My family loved the video!
To all the red-faced Christaphobics posting coments: What? You expect them to be monks? (Something tells me â even then â narrow-minded judgments would never end.) Lighten up! Chill out! Take a deep breath; exhale slowly . . . Have some fun, will ya? Youâre going to go CROSS-EYED!
Cult Worship:Â
Iâm one of those neighbors and I can vouch for every negative thing said about the GCCC so far in these posts.
This pathetic Stunt only further shows the Low Christian Moral Values/Standards that they follow; they feel you need to teach the word of God through cheap theatrics, flashy light shows, theater sized screens and Excessive Bass while showing a total lack of respect for their neighbors. Why not try opening up the Bible and read it and discuss Gods message for a change, a art that so many have forgotten.
The selfish self centered attitude puts them in the league of claiming the distinction of being called a CULT.

Youâre Neighbors

In the words of Hank Hill, "You aren't making Christianity better, you're just making Rock and Roll worse." Remember God is not a fad.
Fun video, but I LOVED the car!
reason for making the video? they're running out ways to propagandize you, that's the reason....just like you would advertise any "product", get to the youth....
like Jose implied I can't believe that a student can make $7620 in one month on the computer. did you read this web page

That was very creative!!!! Great job! ;)
The fact that they say they took the dance moves from Vanilla Ice and Mr. T explains a lot! :)
I don't do rap and I don't do church, this lame vid isn't going to change my mind one pinche bit.
@El Jefe I don't do church, but love rap- and this ain't rap.
Iâm an atheist and I think these guys did a great job in delivering their message. It even made me smile. My wife a Christian almost fell out of her chair. To each their own, but this was well done. Â
I thought it was pretty cute actually. Well done!
Any neighbor who is disturbed about a noise that couldn't last more than a few minutes and probably less than once a week is disturbed in more ways than one. Are you one of the trolls who looks for things to complain about?
@Suzanne Drive past this church during services. It's LOUD. Yeah, it's not noise that lasts "a few minutes", and it's several services including practice once a week or more.
Â
The pastor of this church claims that anyone against them is anti-christian. The sheriff's office doesn't do anything about it because John Lovick, Snohomish County Sheriff, is a member of the church.
Â
I pity the people who have to live next to and across the street from this warehouse of a church.  These people can't sleep in if they want or have to, and they can't have peace in their own home on a restful Sunday morning or afternoon.
Â
This church is a lousy bully of a neighbor.
Â
The church's cheesy, creepy way of luring in youth with what they think is cool music with a hip message, is disturbing.
Â
Have you seen videos of their services? People swaying with their arms in the air, eyes closed, and some brought to tears. Freeeeaky!
The only thing I didn't see was koolaid being passed around...............
Yikes, so many scary sheep amongst us.
@countyclerk  @Suzanne Sounds like these neighbors are not very happy people....seriously??? The video is awesome as is the work that the church is doing.Â
@Suzanne I used to live within a few blocks of the Gold Creek Church. They are LOUD!! I feel bad for the residents who live across the street. I don't see why the church's music/sound system needs to disturb an entire community just to get out their message to the people inside worshipping. If you lived near there, I have no doubt you would also be annoyed when you are trying to have peace in your home.Â
@Suzanne Drive past their church and glance over at the fences across the street.  I'm not the only one.  The sheriff and local police have been contacted numerous times.  Tons of community meetings about this as well.  Multiple services, not just a few minutes.
That bumping base disturbs the residents across the street yet Gold Creek doesn't seem to care. Â Love thy neighbor and respect that not everyone wants to hear your worship service... Christians and others alike.
