Missing Ore. boy's father wants divorce delayed

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Attorneys for the father of missing Oregon boy Kyron Horman have asked a judge to delay his divorce from the child's stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman.
Kaine Horman filed for divorce in June 2010, less than a month after his 7-year-old son vanished from a Portland school. No arrests have been made in Kyron's disappearance, but Kaine Horman and the boy's biological mother believe Terri Horman knows what happened.
Kaine Horman said after Monday's hearing that he wants the delay to allow the criminal investigation to proceed without interference, and to protect his 4-year-old daughter.
"We're doing the absolute best we can," Kaine Horman told The Oregonian. "She puts a smile on our face every day."
One of his attorneys, Brett Engel, questioned how the court could decide whether it's in the best interest of the couple's daughter to have contact with her mother, without knowing if Terri Horman was responsible for Kyron's disappearance.
"If (Kaine) believes this woman is responsible for Kyron's disappearance, do you think he'll feel good about providing spousal support?" Engel asked in court.
Terri Horman's divorce attorney, Peter Bunch, argued against any postponement. He suggested the divorce proceedings go forward, with limitations placed on what questions can be asked of his client.
"Two years, seven months - that's how long it's been," Bunch said. "That's a long time."
Judge Henry Kantor said he would rule in about two weeks.
Terri Horman, who lives 175 miles south of Portland in Roseburg, did not attend the hearing.
Kyron Horman was last seen at Skyline School on June 4, 2010. His stepmother had driven him there for a science fair.
Kaine Horman filed for divorce 24 days later, shortly after investigators told him that six months earlier he had been the target of a murder-for-hire plot discussed by Terri Horman and a landscaper. He has had sole custody of their daughter since then.

Huh??? Limitations on questions?
Â
"Do you know where the boy is"? Objection!
"Do you know if anyone else was involved"? Objection!
Â
Limitations?Â
Some times is it just better to raise your kids alone. I feel bad for poor Kryon, this is not what kids need in their life. The victims are the kids mixed up in this mess. Hope his dad lays off dating until his daughter is an adult since he cannot select suitable partners. Makes you wonder about him as well.
Never a dull moment with this family.
Omg Terry just spill the dang beans already! Let everyone have some peace and healing! Everyone already hates you and thinks you're guilty. It's not like it can get much worse for you.
@cm257n7 She may or may not be sane, but she sure as heck is not stupid. Right now they have nothing on her. Why would she voluntarily provide any information? They need to squeeze her friend.Â
@cm257n7 She probably figures that a long stint in jail would be worse...
@cm257n7 People that insane don't care about public perception of them. If anything, Terri sees herself as a victim in all this.
@Just_Mike  @cm257n7 what if she is totally innocent?
@BuddyHolly  @Just_Mike  @cm257n7 She hired someone to kill her husband. You think she's innocent? Of what, goodness and common sense?Â
 @Just_Mike Ah, good point.
I thought the murder for hire thing was proved to be a lie by a disgruntled ex-employee? I still don't know if I believe the step mom did something to the boy, but the longer she keep quiet the more it seems like she knows something. I can't imagine the pain these parents are dealing with every day.Â
@MomOf2 The mom/step mom is doing the right thing and not making any statements. This lynch mob society we have has been ready to string her up in a tree just like it was 1929. In two years where is somebody who saw her hurt that child?
Â
I recall the stories had once reported her cell phone location pings were near some murder dumping ground in a park or island.
Â
I now have a smart phone and it has gps. What i have learned is that system is right on the money sometimes, but often it is out of whack. Putting cell phone in pocket or going inside house will many times show my location as 30Â miles away in bellingham or the other side of lake washington.
Â
i believe a person is innocent until they are proven guilty
@BuddyHolly @MomOf2 It's always a possibility that she doesn't know anything about the boys disappearance too. I find it kind of ironic that this account of her wanting her husband killed came out at about the same time. Most of us would have reported it immediately. At the very least if she isn't guilty she doesn't have a chance in the media or the public because she's already been convicted by both.
@BuddyHolly  @MomOf2 "Kaine Horman filed for divorce 24 days later, shortly after investigators told him that six months earlier he had been the target of a murder-for-hire plot discussed by Terri Horman and a landscaper." Right, she's an angel. The pings are coming from cell towers, not a GPS. Different things.
Good call Kaine! The investigation has already been delayed enough!
What a travesty of justice.....that poor boy is probably buried somewhere, or if alive so screwed up in the head he won't have much of a life in the future. The so-called mother is obviously a psychopath and shouldn't have any contact with the kid at all, not that the law seems to give a care about the case.
