SNOHOMISH, Wash. -- Rescuers recovered two bodies inside a car pulled out of the Snohomish River on Wednesday, and investigators believe the remains are those of a missing Snohomish couple.
The red 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage was found in the water, in the 6600 block of Riverview Road. The car is believed to belong to Jason Dolman, 31, and Riza Ysulat, 36, who have not been seen since Jan. 8. A detective stumbled upon the discovery while retracing the steps of the missing couple. The crash scene was less than a mile from a relative's home.
Investigators have not yet determined whether foul play is involved.
"There's no way to tell," said Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton. "At this point, it's even unknown why the vehicle left the roadway in the first place."
Ireton said the couple had left medications and other personal items in their homes.
Friends and family members said the disappearance is completely out of character for the couple.
Terri Dolman said her son, Jason, was heading to work the last time she saw him. When he never returned to pick up his son, she began to worry.
"No call, no anything," she said. "I knew something was wrong then because that's just not like him."
Terri said everything seemed normal leading up to the couple's disappearance, but she did mention that Jason recently deleted information from his Facebook page, including his family tree.
The medical examiner is working to identify the remains, and to determine the cause and manner of death.

People don't waste your time commenting on things that you don't even know about. Respect his family members and, his son that has no father. And Riz you took stole my friends boyfriend hope your soul is in peace after that.Â
'Twas a tragic loss! We'll surely be missin' you Riz! Your mem'ries remain in our hearts...We love you....Goodbye to you, our dearest friend....To Sky, ate Fe, and the entire family...Be strong, God'll comfort you amidst this circumstance...We"ll be praying for a peaceful journey of our friend, Riza...
This is so sad. They look so happy in the above picture. Condolences to the family members.
I also want to say kudos to the detective who figured this out. If they hadn't investigated this carefully, I wonder how long it would have remained a mystery?
Any road like this right next river or lake should have a guard rail!!!
It doesn't take any stretch of the imagination to wonder how they ended up in that river, there isn't even enough
shoulder there to change a tire. Imagine someone unfamiliar with that route at night being distracted for a second.. They should put a guard rail there for safety's sake. It makes me wonder how many other automobiles have wound up in that river over the years ? it's a death trap.
Always remember we are talking about someone's son and daughter
What a tragedy....
What a way to go, regardless of who they are. Alone, cold and by drowning in a car. I can't imagine. Thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims.
Â
The City/State should have a guardrail along that road for the safety of the public!Â
@CaliGirl@Heart No to say this isn't tragic but people need to learn to drive and keep their cars on the road. The State can not afford to put safety nets(physical or Fiscal) up everywhere.Â
@Keysontheright @CaliGirl@Heart Just because a car goess off the road we shouldn't assume that they didn't know how to drive. There are several roads that are extremely dangerous. There is a road in oregon they call death curves because you will literally fly off the edge if you go more than 5 mph.
@Keysontheright  @CaliGirl@Heart  @Heart We don't yet know in what condition they were when their car left the road, or if they were even alive at that time.Â
She's filed two different protection orders against an ex; he has a long list of past drug involved crimes.
Â
Not at all bashing him or saying he hadn't straightened out in his final years, just pointing out that there are several shady people who had grudges, whether reasonable or unreasonable, against one or both of the deceased couple.
Â
The fact that he recently removed all of his family info from his Facebook page, while still in close, loving, comparatively normal contact with his sister, parents and other family members, tells me he may have been trying to protect them from either his girlfriend's mentally unstable ex(es), or someone from his past.Â
Â
Therefore, more than enough reason to consider if events other than poor driving led to their car ending up over the embankment and them dead inside.
The couple and their surviving loved ones deserve the respect of finding out what happened and if anyone intentionally harmed them.Â
Don't mean to be morbid, but I don't envy a medical examiner who has to examine bodies that have been underwater for that long.
@James127 With the water is cold as it must be this time of year the bodies should be pretty well preserved. Hopefully the ME will be able to make a definitive determination. Could be they hit an icy patch on the road. My condolences to the families of both of them.
I'm so sorry to the family for the loss, very sad news.Â
Such terrible news for the family.... to be worried with agony about their whereabouts and then this awful finding. Condolences to the relatives and friends of this young couple. And sincere apologies, for having to contend with arm chair detectives who see fit to cast speculation on your loved ones.
@skepticaloptimist They did it on the original story too. Â
Oh no, I am so sorry. Â His sister was posting previously; their poor families and friends. Â
Murder suicide?   Lack of guard rail and recent foggy conditions maybe?
@lakeunion r u serious im the sister n in all respect u need to shut ur trap
Wait...Jan 8th ........didn't have fog back then did we?    Feel sorry for both families and friends involved no matter how this turns out..Â
I couldn't help but notice the lack of a guard rail along the road.
Their are many people on this site that owe the family a huge apology for the comments they were making yesterday. You all know who you are.Â
Very sad. They look like a very nice, good-looking couple.Â

@deadcandance I'm leaning towards her ex husband...sounded like a bad dude
@deadcandance I am thinking the same thing. Hoping that is not the case though. But none the less. Thoughts go out the family and friends.Â
Sending Nothing but LOVE and PEACE to the Families! My deepest Condolences...
Â
I truly do, also, hope they can find some solace in knowing that they were together, and also just knowing they were found. The not knowing what happened or just never seeing them again would drive me to insanity.Â
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I read in an earlier story that Jason had a son. My heart breaks for this boy. He will have to grow up so fast now and know grief before any young person should ever have to. Be strong family and know that the people in our area are fantastic and sending you their strength.
I hope the family finds strength to move forward, this just had to be hard on them. R.I.P.
Bummer...If it is them........I was hoping they just needed some alone time and would come back when they were ready.
@ALTemp That may have been the plan, since they apparently hadn't packed or taken anything with them they'd need for even an overnight somewhere.Â
@ALTemp Yes, that is where I was also.Â
The lose is tragic. The details in the report are worse yet. Who, what, when, where and how?
 @nightshift:Â
Perhaps you missed this last paragraph in the story:Â ".... The medical examiner is working to identify the remains, and to determine the cause and manner of death ...."
@LocalLady @nightshift: You didn't see the ORIGINAL artical.
Very sad. RIP !!!
