More gunfire in Seattle as man shot in knee
Police respond to the shooting.
SEATTLE - The sound of gunfire echoed through the streets of Seattle once again on Sunday afternoon as a 23-year-old man was shot above the knee.

It was at least the seventh shooting in the past 24 hours within the Seattle city limits.

Police said the victim in the latest shooting was found at about 3:20 p.m. at Fremont Avenue N. and N. 86th Street in the Greenwood area.

He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound over the right kneecap. He was reported to be in stable condition.

Officers at the scene said the victim was very uncooperative and refused to provide any information about how he was shot or where exactly the shooting had taken place.

No suspect information was immediately available.

The shooting followed at least six others over a 21-hour period:

• An innocent bystander was hit by a stray bullet Saturday at about 7 p.m. as he waited to cross the street near the Space Needle. The shot was fired during an altercation by two other men nearby, police said.

• A man was shot in the chest and critically injured when he confronted an intruder who broke into his home Sunday at about 1:50 a.m. in Seattle's Pinehurst neighborhood, police said.

• Officers responded to four separate drive-by shootings in South Seattle early Sunday between 1 and 3:10 a.m. More than 60 rounds were fired during those incidents, but no one was injured.
