BELLINGHAM, Wash. - An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed late Monday when he slammed into a cable barrier along Interstate 5 at high speed, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Troopers responded to the scene, in the northbound lanes of I-5 in Whatcom County, at about 10:45 p.m. Monday after receiving a report of a serious motorcycle crash.

The motorcyclist, later identified as Abraham Guerrero, 18, of Bellingham was found dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found that Guerrero was heading north on I-5 at high speed on a 2002 Honda CBR600 MC when he lost control and veered toward the median.
