No reports of injured animals in Tacoma PetSmart fire

TACOMA, Wash. -- A Tacoma PetSmart was evacuated Thursday evening after a fire broke out inside the store.
Tacoma Fire battalion chief Jolene Davis said crews responded to reports of smoke in the store, located in the 3300 block of South 23rd Street, at 6:20 p.m. When they arrived on scene, the firefighters evacuated everyone from the building, including several animals.
Davis said other animals inside were located in a well ventilated area of the store and were not removed.
Firefighters found and quickly extinguished the fire. There's no word yet on how it started or how much damage was done. The animals that were removed were taken to another store.

My doggie was there, being groomed. They had to hightail it out of there! The animals that were being groomed must have been carried out because he had no colar or leash! I was called frm the parking lot and all of the groomed dogs were being comforted and corralled in an employee's car! I am grateful to them for getting all the pets out of there!Â
Glad no people or animals were hurt.
Them musta been some Smart Pets to get away from that fire!
It is Pet Smart, the report is correct. If it was Pets Mart then the S in Smart would be red and not blue.Â
Ooops You're right. As a long time shopper there, you'd think I'd know better. :-P
It's "Pets Mart", not "Pet Smart".
@Silvia Isn't it just PetSmart? It's one word on the sign. . . Why split hairs? :-)
@SilviaIt's both really. They purposefully blended the logo that way. Either way of referring to it is technically correct. Although, the official NASDAQ listing says it is "PetSmart, Inc.". This is most likely because they had to pick one formally.  They like the arguing over the "correct" name as it drives business.
