Officials identify man shot by Moses Lake police

MOSES LAKE, Wash. (AP) - Officials have identified the 54-year-old man who was fatally shot by Moses Lake police.

The Columbia Basin Herald reported Tuesday that authorities say James Eshelman of Moses Lake was shot Monday evening after officers responded to a disturbance at a home.

Police reports say Eshelman was armed with a large knife when officers contacted him.

Authorities have not identified the officer involved, but the officer has been placed on paid administrative leave. Chief Dave Ruffin says the incident is still being investigated.
