Olympia rally marks anniversary of Corrie's death

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - A rally in Olympia over the weekend marked the 10th anniversary of Rachel Corrie's death in the Gaza Strip.
The Olympian reports about 100 people gathered Saturday in Sylvester Park, holding signs showing support for the family of the Olympia activist killed after standing in front of an Israeli military bulldozer.
The 23-year-old had traveled to the Middle East with the International Solidarity Movement and was acting as a human shield to try to stop Israeli soldiers from destroying Palestinian homes and farms.
Corrie's mother, Cindy, spoke at the rally, saying it was important to keep the memory of her daughter's actions alive.
The Corries have sued to hold Israel responsible for their daughter's death. After failing at the lower court level, the case has been appealed.

Seems to me Israel should sue the family of this dimwit for spawning such a loser.
Rachel Corrie's actions and her life teach the value of strength, honor and justice.Â
@JPSTENINO
Heh, wrong. Supporting terrorism does not involve "strength, honor and justice". It just takes an ideology that is warped and twisted.
She should have stayed home and minded her own business. Of course, she was probably brainwashed by her activist parents. Now, they want to sue. Â
My mom always told me to move when a giant bulldozer comes my way. Seems more like natural selection to me, one less idiot in the gene pool

Oh the Jew haters are out in force. I don't feel sorry for her and her hatred of the Jewish people.
@Exiled_Patriot No, not the Jews. It's the Zionists. Get it? They don't hate the Jews. Really they don't. Just those darn Zionists... and... Israelis. But not Jews. Nope.
Why are people commemorating a person who didn't have enough sense to get out of the way of a bulldozer??
When you go to another country and provide assistance to enemies of your country and its allies, you're a traitor. Burning the American flag does nothing but confirm that you are, indeed, a traitor. Rachel Corrie was a naive, stupid young girl. I couldn't care less about her... and I'm a liberal.
LOL, you stand in front of bulldozer in a highly disputed area...what did she expect? I wonder if they had an viewing before the funeral?
I went to IHOP to honor her today.....
I'll be here all week folks, be sure to tip your waitress...
@Bella Ouch! I don't have time to go because it's Martyr Madness Week.
Hey, did she ever stand in front of the Israeli bulldozers destroying the Israeli settlements? Or maybe stood on a rooftop as the missiles reigned in from over the border? No?  You know, I probably would have respected her if she said, "This week, I stand in front of the Israeli bulldozer and the next week I will stand in front of the Palestinian rockets."Â
This is the photo of her burning the american flag they should have used for the article. This one should work. Has an interesting perspective on the events surrounding her death

@6t6tripowr you are a blue ribbon dirt bag. Behind the beautiful face in that photograph is somebody's sister, daughter, and friend looking at you. That is somebody who, right or wrong, was idealistic and trying to do something good that she believed in. She'll be remembered for all that. You, on the other hand, oughta be pondering what you'll be remembered for, if anything.
It is someones sister, daughter and friend who was stupid enough to stand in front of a moving bulldozer.
@tufa23Â
To a point I agree with you. However, let's not judge her on what someone feels she looks like, let's judge her on her reprehensible inside. She was a Jew hating, racist, traitor. She made horrible choices and paid a very unfortunate price. I feel for her family, but the racist made her own choice.Â
@tufa23 Good hating Jews? she was racist for hating the Jewish people I bet she even denied the holocaust happened. I don't feel sorry for her or her parents they raised her to be a useful idiot and that is what they got.
@tufa23Â Who didn't have enough sense to get out of the way of a bulldozer. Sounds like a good ending to that gene pool.

@Pegasus Seriously? What the hell is your problem? Grow the hell up!
@Pegasus With ignorant people like you spouting stupid things I am starting to agree with the professional head doctors who say the liberalism is a form of mental disease. You sound like one of those who think we as a nation should give more weapons and money to our enemies during war time. The libs supported Hitler during WW2, The Chinese during Korea and Vietnam and most recent support worldwide terrorism against this nation. We need to send all libs to Mexico and keep the illegals then finish the wall.
@Howard Knox
The libs supported Hitler during WW2? Â Prescott Bush was liberal?
Given your grammar one would gather you believe anything Faux News spouts, heh?
@Ventura66
Wrong. Â Ever hear of the Isolationists? 60%%+ of Americans were completely against our entering the war till Pearl Harbor. FDR would have been impeached had he tried to declare warÂ
Churchill? ah, the guy who proposed Gallipoli?  And sent the British Army haring around in Greece before properly securing North Africa, allowing the Afrika Korps to take hold - extending the fighting in that theater 2+ years
Also, you seem to like being a grammar nazi, so start re-reading your posts.
@unobtanium Â
FDR has been made a hero by leftist. He was a coward who only entered World War Two after the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, because he had to. If only we had a leader like Sir Winston Churchill, the war would have ended a lot sooner.
@TCat
Try again. Â
Mr. Chamberlain was booted by Parliament during the Norway debacle, and of course was replaced by Churchill.  Over here we had FDR - remember him?  National Recovery Act?  CCC? Bank holidays?  pretty liberal (and popular) guy who opposed Hitler at every turn.
keep buggering that chicken
@unobtanium A little history would do you a world of good.  The name you should start with is Neville Chamberlain, who tried to appease Hitler rather than enforcing the rule of law and treaty.  To moderates and conservatives, much of the democratic plank today looks remarkably similar.
We don't receive Fox, but your bias and abject unfamiliarity with history while simultaneously pontificating about it does strike me as an MSNBC rabid leftist trait.
@Pegasus Hey, if you really are out of here, it has made America a better place.  When you insult the intelligence, accuse them of DVRing "Honey Boo Boo" (I have no clue what that is, but from your context assume it's a crass television show), and call everyone "biatches", your absence can only serve to class up the joint.
A lesson for the rest of us. Don't stand, sit, kneel or lie down in front of a moving bulldozer.
When the media says "about a hundred" for attendance at an anti-American rally it means about a dozen or so. If there really was 100, they would report 1000.  It is no surprise the blame America first crowd and America haters also hate Israel.Â
@Goodwin On second thought, instead of watching TV, maybe you should go clean your certified BB gun.  Go do something useful.
@Pegasus @Goodwin so when did you start hating Jew?
@Pegasus @Goodwin You obviously are not informed. The PLO has murdered many Israelies and have always started the fight. They hurl expolsives on innocent families living near their borders. Israel has the right to defend herself. I suggest you learn to look at both sides of the story and when you do share about your "beliefs" inform yourself of the situation instead of being ignorant.
@unobtanium @Common Sense "no, actually they were not there first: think Canaanites - who came over from Babylon."
Well if going back to the first people is how we plan to give the land away lets give it to the oldest people we can find who lived in the land. According to you its Canaanites. Next in line would be the Jews. So lets give it to the Canaanites. But wait, they cannot be found. No problem, next in line are those who live there now. Issue settled, moving on.
@unobtanium @justsayin So tell me oh smart one,should America give parts of New Mexico, California and Arizona  ? I f Texas were ever to secede,would Texas also get parts of New mexico, Colorado,Wyoming Oklahoma ?Â
@Common Sense no, actually they were not there first: think Canaanites - who came over from Babylon.
@unobtanium missed the part where the Jews were there first didn't ya?
Easy answer: Don't start a war you cant win, and no one likes a sore loser. Â
@justsayin
"Israel has the right to defend herself."
forgot the part about ill gotten gains there... Â people usually don't like being kicked off their land by foreigners.
The left as usual only points to a one sided comment. What about the many Israeli children killed by terrorist rockets and or shot by snipers? The school children who were shot at were shot from a housing slum area. For safety of the children the Israeli's bulldozed the slums. The locals in the slum area were given plenty of warning so they could relocate and the stupid American girl stood there and got run over. Were there any other Arabs standing there protesting with her? No because they had some common sense.
@Howard Knox Yeah, what about that?  "shot from a housing slum area" - so you mean, Israeli citizens put themselves in proximity to a Palestinian "slum"?  ( I assume inside Palestinian territory).  If I sample from some of the comments posted here from some of the ill-informed and un-washed masses that call themselves Americans,  one could  make an argument that  maybe the Israeli children deserved what they got since  they were placed in harm's by their stupid Israeli parents.  What do you think?  Children are children - I could care less what their nationality is - but you make it clear to me that you value one child over another.
Just a thought.  Any which way you look at it, the whole situation sucks.  Maybe just to calm things down, the Palestinians should build themselves a wall (like the Israeli government is doing) to protect themselves, and prevent adventurous activities.
@Pegasus Once again your ignorance comes shining through.
Israel is expanding their settlements yet again to the criticism of everyone including the U.S. government. People need to wake up.Â
@lakeview No they are not, it is their land.
@justsayin @lakeview Precisely. They can do what they want on their own land and the so called palestinians can stuff it where it hurts the most.
Obama hates Isreal, so yeah the US gov. is critical of them.
Hey, there are a lot more bulldozers over there, why dont you go stand in front of one and see if it as dangerous as a gun.
@lakeview Negotiating position of Palestinian leaders: Die Israel.
 Position of Israel: Statehood for Palestine with defensible borders for Israel.
I don't understand the problem.
