EATONVILLE, Wash. -- One man was killed and six others were injured in a Wednesday morning head-on car crash near Eatonville.

The two-car crash happened at roughly 11 a.m. on State Route 7 near 316th Street, according to Washington State Patrol trooper Guy Gill

Gill said it appears one vehicle crossed the center line and slammed head-on into another car. He said the man who crossed the center line died at the scene of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation, but Gill said the driver who caused it called his girlfriend 10 minutes before the crash and said he was having chest pains and vomiting. He said he was going to drive himself to the hospital, but he never made it.

"Her advice back to him was to call 911," Gill said. "He said he wanted to drive himself and you can see by the wreckage behind me, you never know."

Six people who were in the other car were taken to local hospitals.

Two adults are being treated at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and four children were taken to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, according to Cole Cosgrove with Multicare.

The family of six lives just 100 yards from the crash site.

It's unclear exactly how severe the injuries are, but Gill said all six members of the family are expected to survive.

"We know three of the four children are in pretty good shape today," he said. "Both adults have injures and are expected to survive."
