Ore. father accidentally runs over daughter, killing her
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Police say a father accidentally hit his 17-month-old daughter while parking his car in the driveway Friday.
Police say the child was playing with two other children in the front of the home in the 400 block of Northwest Conifer Boulevard around 7:15 p.m. when the accident happened.
The family rushed the child to the hospital where she later died.
Criminal charges are not expected.
Tragic! I can't imagine anything worse. My heart goes out for this father.Â
I can't even imagine the pain the father and family must be experiencing. What a nightmare. I just cant even imagine. My heart goes out to them.
What a heart breaking accident, I can't imagine the pain they must be going through. I am always so sorry to hear of anyone suffering this kind of loss. My prayers and condolences to the family.
heart wrenching - just heart wrenching!
Oh man, that is so sad. What a tragic accident. I'm so sorry for their loss. RIP little one...
I honestly don't know what the purpose of even running this story is. Is it to serve as a reminder that tragic accidents are still happening? Yeah, we get it, morons. I mean, give this family some privacy for Christ sake, KOMO. Someone in the newsroom most certainly has a penchant for 'toddlers getting backed up over in their driveway by dad' stories because I've seen them all reported here, diligently.
@ondskap I agree. This isn't "news," this is a violation of privacy at a time when a family most needs it.
@ondskap Yes, I think it IS to remind us to be ever vigilant when it comes to little children. However I also think that merely mentioning the city without any reference to where in the city it happened would have been better. The only thing worse would have been to name the family or give the complete address.
There are few stories that I read, that are more profoundly heartbreaking than these. I cannot imagine the pain and grief of how something such as this, impacts the driver and family. So very, very sad.
