Oregon state senator wields bat to scare burglar
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — State Sen. Chris Edwards played baseball when he attended South Eugene High School and was ready to put those skills to use when a burglar entered his garage this week.
The lawmaker wielded an aluminum baseball bat as he chased the suspect away early Thursday.
Edwards called the intruder a "dirt bag" in a Facebook post shortly after the incident. He added: "It's probably for the best that I only had my Easton baseball bat when I caught you in the act."
The 39-year-old Democrat told The Register-Guard newspaper he owns guns but "wasn't looking for a firefight" in the middle of the night.
Eugene police have not found the burglar. They typically take about 200 reports each month from people who have had items stolen from vehicles.

good thing the intruder didn't have a stolen hand gun in his pocket or the bat would have lost.

An aluminum bat?? Don't he know they have tendency to richocet & hurt someone, namely the wielder.  Wooden bats are the better choice of weapon. Sheesh, a real ball player 'wood' know that.Â
I dunno. For me the bat seems more scary than the gun! LOL! Wish more politicians could put that kind of fight in their jobs.

 @Zoso One detail... if you choose to use the .22, make sure you file down the front sight so when the attacker crams it up your behind it doesn't tear you up too much. :-D
Shame on him. What if someone would have gotten hurt? He should have called 911 and waited for law enforcement.

 @Zoso Yes. He is a Liberal which means he supports laws saying I should not be able to defend myself. As with all liberals in power he exempts himself from those rules.
