Overnight fire damages Port Orchard apartment building
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. - Occupants of a 10-unit apartment complex were left homeless after flames swept through the building Tuesday night.

Firefighters responded to the blaze, at 333 Lippert Drive West, just after 9 p.m. after receiving 911 calls about the fire, said Jeff Faucett, battalion chief with South Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

Arriving at the scene, firefighters found smoke and flames billowing from one of the units. Crews attacked the blaze and extinguished it about a half-hour later.

Everyone made it safely out of the building, but two tenants were evaluated for minor medical issues. A firefighter sustained a hand injury.

The Red Cross assisted displaced residents in finding temporary housing.

The Kitsap County Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
