Pedestrian hit by car after jumping onto I-5 from overpass

SEATTLE - A pedestrian jumped from a freeway overpass onto Interstate 5 Saturday night in Seattle and was hit by a vehicle that just kept going, the Washington State Patrol reported.

State troopers responded to the scene, in the northbound lanes of I-5 just south of mercer Street, at about 11:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a body in the roadway.

A preliminary investigation found that the pedestrian jumped from the overpass and landed in the second northbound lane. The pedestrian was then struck by an unknown vehicle that left the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name and age of the victim were not available, nor was there any description of the vehicle.
