Pedestrian struck, killed along Airport Road in S. Everett
EVERETT, Wash. - A man was struck and killed Friday morning while trying to walk across Airport Road in South Everett, officials said.
Snohomish County sheriff's deputies responded to the scene, along Airport Road between Highway 99 and Admiralty Way, at about 6 a.m. after receiving reports of the accident, said spokeswoman Shari Ireton.
The male pedestrian was found dead at the scene when deputies arrived. Investigators later identified him as 51-year-old David Carl Murray of Mukilteo.
A preliminary investigation found that a truck was headed east on Airport Road and struck the pedestrian as he tried to cross the street. The driver, a Mukilteo man, remained at the scene after the crash and is cooperating with investigators.

David is my brother. He was a kind, gentle soul, who loved with his entire heart.Â
He was in the crosswalk. He did nothing wrong.  This was a terrible, terrible accident.Â
Most of you people who are commenting are hateful, horrible souls. Have some compassion for your fellow man. You may one day need that same compassion for your own troubles.
Kenneth, thank you. It means more than you realize.
Be in peace, brother. I love you. Â
I knew Dave for alot of years. Dave was a very kind man who never had a bad word to say about anybody, ever. Rest in Peace Dave, You will be missed by all who knew you.
Use the crosswalk people!... this person did not have to die but their choice to cross where they are not supposed is beyond careless. I have had plenty of close calls with people at night, I am pretty observant and I have very good eyesight and I have trouble spotting people when they are in a dark area AND in ALL black... I am sorry this person died but they were in the road where they were not supposed and died because they thought the few extra minutes saved skipping the crosswalk were worth it! The driver came back which is a big plus to them, and if whoever family this is comes back and tries to sue him for this crap I want to know!
@Freespeech One of my pet peeves is people who want to cross the street 20 feet from a crosswalk & the ones who decide they want to start crossing, when the cross traffic has the green. Makes me wonder how many of these people are on a suicide mission.
I really wish people would use the crosswalk. It doesn't guarantee that you'll be safe, but it's a lot safer than crossing at some random point. I've seen people dart across 4 or more lanes of traffic, probably 50 yards away from a crosswalk and it just doesn't seem worth it to me. I was sorry to hear this man lost his life and the driver now having to deal with what happened for the rest of his life.
@tats76Â Yesterday I slowed down to avoid hitting a black guy in dark clothing sauntering across a road like he owned it. He's lucky I saw him in the twilight, at first I didn't. Some people just have no brains.
@dontneed heels As of late, a lot of black people have taken to sauntering across crosswalks taking WAY more time than needed to get across knowing full well that they are impeding traffic for no reason. They do this while glaring at drivers obviously dareing them to hit them.Â
A week or so ago the KISW show "The Men's Room" was discussing this very topic. The show's black talk jock confirmed that this behavior had become quite a fad among inner city blacks.
@dontneedheels I almost hit a family of ducks every year in this same spot...... they always seem to make it though
@Northriver @dontneedheels LMAO!!!!
Lots of Drunk homeless people and immigrant workers walk that street daily... Sad though
@Northriver Lots of normal people do too, what are you implying? No need for a jerkish comment... this is a sad story.
Did I not say it was sad??? Jerkish comment?? What am I implying?? I'm implying what I said, there is a bus stop on the North side of the street that the immigrant workers use to find jobs in front of Home Depot and there is a trailer park on the South side serving as the only housing in the area.. There is a Pawn shop on the corner next to the gas station a porn shop on the West side of the road and a Bikini Stand again on the north side. So I revert back to my statement there are a lot of Drunk people and immigrant workers who cross that street..... Any questions?
Sorry I forgot about the happy ending massage parlor, housing for mentally ill and the section 8 housing behind Home Depot.....Again I agree its sad but if crossing a street in the dark on a rainy morning during rush hour is done by most normal people than I revert everything I said.. In this case I feel bad for the driver
why you so sensitive? are you 2 pay checks away from being homeless?
I drove by this morning around 7:30 am and it was still there, I saw the hand of the person hit he was coverd and there were police. He/she was in the middle of the road inbetween home depo and the gas station. r.i.p to who ever he/she was. So many people die near home depo its sad.
I drove by this morning. The body was still in the street....not in a crosswalk and pretty much in the center of the road.
People walking in the dark near/around busy roadways should use extra caution. I know I would.
@SandyBeach Seriously. Walking along a busy road at night isn't the brightest thing to do.Â
It's a sad end for somebody. As much as I hate traffic cameras....maybe there's a photo.
@Elvis Photo of what? It has been already established that he/she was jaywalking in the middle of the street. The driver stopped and is presumably cooperating with the authorities. What do you want a photo of ? The actual impact? If so, it is sick.
