TUALATIN, Ore. - Pinkies down, bottoms up.
Ryan Harms doesn't see the need for the fuss that goes along with drinking wine.
In fact, the instructions for his new venture specifically require "#pinkiesdown."
Harms founded Union Wine Company and said the idea of putting wine into a beer can goes back to that simple philosophy.
His philosophy is panning out so far - pre-sales have been great so far
"Distributors keep calling wanting to know when they can get it," Harms said.
Union Wine Company chose its every day drinking wine series, Underwood, for canning in a Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
The idea is to make Oregon wine more accessible.
Harms said cans of Underwood wine will be for sale this May.
“It’s the same wine you get in the bottle, no difference,” he said.
Even his own winemakers couldn’t tell the difference during a blind tasting.
He knows not everyone is a "pinkies down" kind of wine person, but they also offer "pinky retainers" to help you adjust.
