MARYSVILLE, Wash. - Police have launched a homicide investigation after an 82-year-old man was found dead in Marysville. His house was ransacked and his pickup was stolen.
Officers responded to the scene, in the 9800 block of State Avenue, at about 3 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a relative, said Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux of the Marysville police.
The death was discovered by the victim's grandson when he went to check on him. The grandson told his mother, who called police.
Arriving at the scene, officers quickly determined the man's death was likely a homicide and called for detectives.
Lamoureux later said the victim's pickup truck is missing and he asked for the public's help in locating it. The pickup, a champagne-colored 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, has Washington license plate number B03681A.
It is presumed that it was stolen by the suspect or suspects involved in the homicide, Lamoureux said.
"We are considering the occupants as being armed and dangerous and ask that the public do not try to intervene. We simply want them to call 911 to report the location of the vehicle," he said.
No further details were immediately available. The name of the victim was not released pending notification of next of kin, but Lamoureux did confirm that the victim was a level III sex offender.

I don't always check on Grandpa. But when I do, it's at 3am.
Pretty odd the grandson goes to check on him at 3am, huh. Â
@hello I was thinking the same exact thing.

 @Just my say  thats what she said
@Terry Wagar This is exactly the reason why you shouldn't BUI (blog under the influence of an intoxicant)!
 @Terry Wagar And what does this have to do with the story?
 @Terry Wagar Cool story bro.
 @Terry Wagar hahaha LOL
Doesn't look good for grandson.
 @Throbbinhood Why do you think that?
 @Throbbinhood I think you nailed it.
 @al_wa  @Throbbinhood thats what she said
 @Bornhere It was actually your mother calling my name. She wanted to go for a ride..Â
 @Komo206 Isn't that your mother calling? I think she wants you to clean your room and take out the trash.
How sad, hopefully the police find the person/people who did this.
 Odd. How is it that one checks on their relatives around 3am?
 @PagenUrParden Yeah that's pretty strange all right unless he worked some late shift  or something. Still a little fishy.
@Seahawker @PagenUrParden The north end has a very high population of Boeing workers, and setting an alarm for 3am wouldn't be unreasonable to make it to work on time for 1st shift.
was it gang or drug related?
 @Harrison cocaine is a hell of a drug
@Harrison With an 82 year old man - definitely sounds like it could be either...
