Police: Auburn man killed cousin over Christmas Eve slight
SEATTLE -- An Auburn man accused of stabbing his cousin to death after the other man called him a name has been charged with murder.
King County prosecutors contend Bradley P. Courville stabbed Oliver Quinn with a butcher knife after Quinn called him a "bitch" on Christmas Eve. Courville, 24, is also alleged to have disarmed a police officer inside an interview room at the Auburn Police Station.
At 1 a.m. on Dec. 24, Auburn police were called to the 4000 block of Auburn Way South following a report of a stabbing there.
Police arrived to find Quinn, 26, dead from a stab wound to the neck. Courville had left the area by the time police arrived.
Police subsequently spoke with a witness to the killing who said Courville had stabbed his cousin, an Auburn police detective told the court. Courville emerged from some shrubbery nearby and turned himself in to police.
According to charging documents, Courville admitted that he killed his cousin while experiencing a "spiritual" moment. Courville allegedly told police he stabbed Quinn after the other man called him a name.
Midway through the interview with detectives, Courville threw a cup of coffee at an officer inside the interview room in an effort to escape, the Auburn detective continued.
Courville turned off the light inside the room and struggled with the officer, eventually managing to wrest his duty sidearm from its holster, the detective told the court. The officer managed to regain control of the gun with the help of several detectives.
Courville has been charged with second-degree murder in Quinn's death, as well as disarming a police officer and third-degree assault in the later altercation. He remains jailed on $1 million bail.

My generation doesn't seem to value life much.Â
and he probably thought it was "the right thing to do" at the time-oh my goodness
Wwwwweeeellllllllllllllllllllllllll, the names he is going to be called now are going to be a whole lot worse than that.
@The WA Mama ...and my guess is he will be the one getting "stabbed"?
think the Auburn PD caught Jason Bourne... Stabbed a poor slob in the neck, 'disarmed' an detective with a cup of coffee & turning off the lights. Those crazy Meth heads..
Those goofy podunks from Auburn.
Sounds like he really is a biatch.
Sticks and stones... and butcher knives...
Sounds like a winner. Glad he's behind bars, right where he belongs.
@skepticaloptimist Don't worry, Thanks to WA State justice, he'll soon be out to kill again. After all, his cousin wasn't someone famous, UNFORTUNATELY! (Unfortunately - meaning he'll be out WAY TOO SOON!)
If he hadn't done this, he would have pushed someone into the path of a New York subway train instead. We need to curtail all the nutjobs!!
Charged with "disarming a police officer"? Charge the officer of being unable to protect himself, and his weapon!
@WhatdidIsay? I used to be a cop and when I went through the police academy we had had several officers being killed by their own gun.Â
Â
It is a lot more difficult to maintain control over your gun than it sounds. Per the force policy lethal force can be used in that situation. Suspect is lucky he wasn't killed.Â
Â
What I want to know is why was a suspect in an interview room with an armed officer? Gun should have been placed in gun locker.
@WhatdidIsay?  If the police officer had two guns, he could have used one to defend himself from losing the other. Clearly the police do not carry enough guns. You can fit at least 3 or 4 on those belts.Â
Is it policy to allow officers to have firearms in the interrogation room when a suspect isn't restrained? And why wasn't the suspect restrained?
Man, he really must've been a little "bich" if he's gonna flip out and kill his cousin because of it. He's 24? That's interesting. And I thought my family was messed up! LOL!
We need to post police officers outside of police interogation rooms obviously.Â

And when they ban your account for immature name calling, you can wonder whatyousaid.Â
Sometimes I feel like I'm reading the wierd news from some other world...
I guess the coffee throwing bit was a *ahem* "spiritual moment," too? What a frackin' idiot!
A spiritual moment with a demon it would appear. Ummmm sounds like someone needs a good hanging from a very long rope. . .
Why would anyone waste time or energy on being called a name? Its a name, not the end of the world. Now the dude is going away for a while, where everyone has a name and they are not good names.Â
I have a feeling they were made for each other...
Sounds like a real bad dude who belonged behind bars well before this occurred.Â
He's done.
Counting my blessings. No fights in our house.
And I thought I had a dysfunctional family. Jeez.
What is WRONG with people these days? Doesn't anyone know how to have an argument any more...without killing someone?
@SheilaKA Oh, for the good old days, where two guys would just "step outside".....
Â
Holly Crapola! A spiritual moment? For whom? Sounds like someone needs to go to rehab or get on some Psych meds. ASAP!
@missyk Those were exactly my thoughts.
Â
@missyk Spiritual moment my rear end.  He's trying to lay the ground work for a defense.
 Best and brightest?

@jelisized To wrest is legit. Look it up. Expand your vocabulary.Â
