Police: Ballard bank robber drove away in Porsche

SEATTLE -- Police say the masked man who robbed a Ballard bank on Tuesday was driving an expensive getaway car.
The robber, who's roughly 30-years old, walked into a US Bank on NW 61st Street and 15th Avenue NW just before 3 p.m. and told everyone to get on the ground.
The man implied he was armed, demanded money from a teller and then left the bank with an unknown amount of cash.
Police say he drove away in a black, two-door Porsche 944 Turbo hatchback.
The robber stands 5'8" to 5'10" tall, has a medium build and was wearing a black jacket, jeans, a mask and sunglasses. Police say he is either white or Asian.
Robbery detectives are now handling the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI - Seattle Safe Streets Task Force at (206) 622-0460.

I wish the news writers would include the year and average value of the vehicle when they use a premier auto brand to embellish a story. As other commenters have noted, the Porsche 944 is an older car that has long ago lost any value that it may have originally had. Although the robber drove a Porsche, it was probably only worth a couple thousand dollars and most likely has serious mechanical problems.
I guess the irony makes me smile a little.Â
PS 944 was a POS.Â
....well I hope it was a 5 speed & not an automatic...hate it when I see a decent sports car without a manual transmission.
@Sydthepiper Porsche didn't offer an automatic on the 944 Turbos.Â
A 20+ year old car worth $5k isn't really notable and completely removes the element of irony.
@Pahana 944 sucked in just about every way a car could. I think putting a price tag of 5k is being more than generous.
@Kodiak  @Pahana The 944s were great sports cars, especially the Turbo. People still race them today.Â
Is he the same guy that killed Yancy Noll? I could be wrong, but I don't think that a 25'ish year old 944 Turbo qualifies as an expensive car. Significantly more valuable than the non turbo, but I don't think they are THAT expensive. Either way though, this isn't the first, not will it be the last time that someone will steal something and drive away in a nice car. I used to work retail and it happened all the time. How do you think the guy who flips burgers at MacDonalds can afford the bling bling Escalade?
times are tough.....times are tough
