Police: Boulevard Park shooting was murder-suicide, not gun battle

SEATTLE -- What was originally thought as a running gun battle that took the life of two men in Seattle's Boulevard Park neighborhood on Wednesday has since been determined to a murder-suicide, officials said.
And investigations are speculating the murder could have been accidental.
Police received reports of shots coming from a car toward a home in the 1000 block of 102nd Street around 1:20 a.m., said Sgt. Cindi West with the King County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies arrived, they found a man shot to death in the passenger seat of the car out front, and the driver with a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where he later died.
Police thought based on witness reports there was another car involved in the shooting, but investigators have since concluded the driver was the lone shooter, West said.
Detectives believe the driver was upset after recently breaking up with his girlfriend and was going around with his friend shooting at homes connected to where she might be located, West said.
The passenger's seat was found fully reclined, leading detectives to believe the passenger was leaning back to allow the driver to fire through the passenger-side window.
"We think it's possible that he might have been leaning back for the driver to shoot out a passenger window and maybe sat up at the wrong time and got shot," West said. Detectives think the man then turned the gun on himself.
No one else was hurt.

That is the most heartwarming story I've read in a while. This level of stupid cannot be imagined.
Poetic justice, irony and comeuppance.
2 for the price of 1
And I find it interesting that investigations CAN speculate. I thought it was left up to investigators, speculators etc. "investigations are speculating"
Sounds legit. **facepalm**
'D' "Oh" !
Well, that's a long way from the early witness reports that said about 12 shots were fired....
Hmmmmm.... "gun battle"? I think not - likey just another sensationalized media invention.
@ThrobbinhoodPerhaps not. "Detectives believe the driver was upset after recently breaking up with his girlfriend and was going around with his friend shooting..."
Would indicate that more shots than just a couple were fired.
Another episode of Guns Solving Everyday Problems. It's a routine and actual example of how Guns Make You Safe. I bet he bought the gun for "protection." Gunmakers to make a profit while reducing it's number of nutty customers. Undertaker makes money.Â
A man who should never have had a gun in the first place - is done with his bad behavior without further costs to the legal system. A Girlfriend got away from a gun-nut and lived to tell. Hope she makes better choices in future. Win-Win-Win. Everybody but his Mom, and family made out for the better. All thanks to Guns!
Those pesky gun nuts are at it again.  Hey is anyone up for a trip to the range this weekend??
I got two cases of 12 guage. You got birds??
No birds, but the zombies are getting pretty thick around these parts. I don't always use a 12 gauge, but when I do, I prefer PDX1 or "000" buckshot. Stay safe my friends. Shoot responsibly.
@TreeTopFlyer Sure, do you know who has any 22LR or 308 in stock?
Yes, sadly it's unavailable anywhere unless one wants to pay like $80 for a brick plus shipping. NOT. I hedged the shortage though by getting a Gamo Whisper Fusion Pellet rifle for my trigger time/"group therapy" sessions.  :o)
@Susabelle, go out to Dave's Guns out by Westport. It's a nice day trip anyway.
@TreeTopFlyer Darn! I swear I cannot find it anywhere!
:o( I wish. But I did run across a brick of 22LR for a mere $25 just last weekend. Got it from a friend though...not a retailer.
That's why I say hey man, nice shot
Good shot, man

Well, at the least the girlfriend and occupants of all those homes where she 'might' have been (as well as society in general) are safe. Â
Wow...that is an interesting turn...Â
Interesting he felt bad about killing his friend, but nothing about splaying bullets through random houses that could easily have children in them.Â
@the tideOr any person or animal. Glad to see these two morons are gone. Just wait for their family to show up and tell us what good little boys they were.
Lucky ex-girlfriend. There was a reason they broke-up.
That's a lot of fail packed into one story. And a happy ending to boot.
