Police: Fatal Sedro-Woolley shooting may have been gang related
SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. -- Police believe a Monday evening shooting that left one man dead and another injured was gang related.
Officers were called to a shooting at the Cascade View apartment complex just after 6 p.m. When they arrived at the complex, located in the 300 block of Ball Street, they found two men with gunshot wounds.
One man in his late 20s was taken to a Mount Vernon's Skagit Valley Hospital and the other -- a man in his mid 30s -- was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. William Tucker with the Sedro-Woolley Police Department.
Tucker said he believes the shooting was gang related and may be retaliation for a recent shooting that took place outside of Sedro-Woolley.
The deceased man's family confirmed to police that he was a gang member, Tucker said.
Police are questioning two residents at the apartment complex. The men are considered persons of interest in the case, but no arrests have been made.
A third person of interest remains on the loose.
The surviving victim is in critical condition.

Funny, everybody is saying "Hispanic gang members" but if you search Skagit Jail's roster for Ball St. you find 2 men arrested on 3/11 for manslaughter and assault.  Neither one of those names looks Hispanic to me... This is a classic case of prejudiced mentality at it's peak. Â
Sedro Woolly, gang shooting, Let me guess..could it be a hispanic gang?? Where is ICE??
@Evilmidget What is ICE going to do? They don't deport US Citizens even if they are Hispanic.Â
live by the gun, die by the gun. Late 20s âmid 30s? really, still living with a high school mentality? Hope they keep killing each other and not innocent by standers.
@Nathan BoiÂ
When did the mentality of shooting someone become "High School Mentality"?????Â
I graduated from high school 50 years ago this coming June and even though many
many students legally owned, or had access to weapons, no one was ever shot byÂ
a fellow student. Â
When disagreements were too extreme, they were settled with fist, not guns.
Bullies were usually put into their place by individuals that were bigger and strongerÂ
than the bullies that picked on the weaker individuals, often that was accomplishedÂ
with just a verbal warning to the bully.Â
Sadly that is not frequently not the case in today's society. It should be.
There were no gangs, and the drug culture did not exist in our rural community at all.
I might buy into the concept of a gang mentality, but not "high school mentality".
No arrest's? They have two locked up as of this morning,both from the 300#...Throw the book at them repeatably..
bwaahaha. gangs in sedro woolley? maybe after you smoke enough dope the sign on the metro that says "to sedro woolley" starts to look like "to south beacon hill" ??
I'm sure these guys submitted themselves for background checks and are legally OK to own firearms. They also must have forgotten to turn in their weapons at McGoo's buyback, I guess from SW to Seattle can be quite a drive...
Um, Ya....they are all over SKagit County. We are an 1-5 corridor county.
And yes plenty are over age 30. They teach them young and it stays with them.
Did you know that the worldwide gang MS-13 are here, among others? It is downright scary.
Bad guy kills bad guy with no collateral damage? Sounds good.Â
Rather amazing a small drive-by and don't blink town has a serious gang problem, but what the heck its America and all the pink houses...
OMG - GANGS in SW???? LOL what do they do graffiti each other's mud flaps, steal people's manure and shoot people's cows??? HAHAHA - this is a joke right? People in SW trying to be a GANG??? Let me guess everyone in the gang uses the same kind of chewing tobacco and wears the same brand of muddy boots!  Gangs are dumb - they always were, not to mention gangs were the popular thing to be in like 20 years ago shouldn't there be something "cooler" to do with your time now!?! I'm still appalled at a gang in Sedro???? - come on people! On a serious note, I'm am saddened by the loss of life and hope for peace for the families ( I may be from SW but I have a heart )
@USNph1981
If you haven't figured it out yet, these gangs do not consist of aboriginal Sedro Woollians. Hint:hyphenated surnames and obnoxious Honda Civics.
Kind of hard to complain when one gang member kills another. The sad part is the murderer is still alive. That said, the 6 month old baby that the gang member shot in Chichago yesterday- she had 5 bullets in her, died this morning. Her dad- also a gang member, was critically wounded. The dad was changing the baby's diaper - him out side his vehicle and the child on the seat when the gang member showed up and started firing at both.Â
Move to the country for a better life......
@whitewings2003Â Have you ever been to Sedro Wooley? It IS the country. Â If you drive through town at fifty and blink, you'll miss it. Â
@hologram5Â @whitewings2003Â There are horses walking on that road on any given day.
@hologram5Â If you drive through town doing fifty you'll get pulled over just like any other town. Moron.
@Nhawker
lol...
Welcome to another chapter in "The Death of Sleepy Small Towns in Washington State". Â Tweakers and Bangers...coming to a small town near you!Â
I will pay anyone who goes and finds this sons of *****'s dead or alive reward for their heads?....
@Unknown I have been waiting for any reason to go shootin cans. No it's not animal mentality, rather protection of our way of life. We hire them to work on our farms and they are a different mentality than the L.A. gangs transplants.Â
@Unknown You're another gang banger who incidently wants help so you can go out and murder someone? That will fix society... not. And that's the animal mentality that murdered your friend.Â
bring our troops home and declare war on gangs. Â enough said.
The problem with this reasoning is that it violates the Posse Comitatus Act
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_Comitatus_Act
Perhaps we should take Dianne Feinstein's advice that it is legal to hunt humans, because after all, if this gun grabber says it, it must be true...
http://freedomoutpost.com/2013/03/dianne-feinstein-its-legal-to-hunt-humans-2/
@fubar Well then I guess we need a state militia to take up arms against these gangs..
street gangs are terrorist's a Chicago gang contracted with a terrorist group to shoot down a passenger plane. Thankfully they were found out before they did it.
Remember when "The Wooley Walk" was the thing to do up there? Just wantering around town with our friends? There wasn't gang related ANYTHING up there until our state opened it's arms wide to our illegal friends from south of the border. I think our troops are probably in need of some rest at this point, so let's hunt these pukes ourselves. At the rate they're spreading across that area, and invading neighborhoods, we might have to.
damn good idea, win win. It would save so much money and help our own people though and the govt doesn't care about people.
Yeah Gangs. Â Great idea. Really. Â Unless you plan on living past 30. Â
"a man in his mid 30s -- was pronounced dead at the scene." More like a guy in his early 20s, 22 yr old to be exact.Â
This sort of thing doesn't even surprise me. People need to stop "gang-banging." That is that sort of thing that will shorten peoples lives, it's not that hard to figure out.Â
Shocking. But since 96% of shooting on criminal on criminal it shouldn't be...
@Goodwin Yeah, let the bangers kill each other off. Works for me.
@Scoondog @Goodwin Until they hit a 6 month old 5 times. Then it kinda sucks doesn't it?
Sedro Woolley gangs?? Sounds like military intelligence..
@Sanctuary Actually the gang problem is really bad in Sedro-Woolley and in Mount Vernon. Really bad.
great we just lost our gang officer too. :(
@dogma22Â maybe we can import one of the thousands of Iraqi police officers we taxpayers paid to train and hire! Â You know, instead of all our money and deficit going to Iraq, and to the billionaires, maybe the taxpayers could actually get something. Â Or perhaps one of the Koch Brothers' body guards could become a gang officer. Â Â
@DT
Or George Soros' body guards? Or Barbra Streisand's body guards? Or (fill in your political blank)...
@komonews Sedro-Woolley has gangs??? I think my childhood just died...
Sedro-Woolley? Gangs? What kind of gangs? Hispanic? Black? White? Asian? Taliban?...
@Grumpa Yes.
@Grumpa hispanic
illegals one and all
@patriot279Â Both men arrested were white.
@yeahguy @Grumpa Thanks! That is what I thought. I had two relatives lose cars in that area and both were recovered in the Arlington, Sedro-woolley area Mexican restaurant parking lots. Apparently used for drug runs. Nothing missing much from the vehicle but they were trashed inside and out. Welcome to the new world.
@WAREZ2012Â @StringerJoe But are their parents legal?
@WAREZ2012 @StringerJoe most of the gang members of hispanic gangs are the children of people who work 7 days a week, for very little money.  They naively believed that if they worked hard, that their kids would appreciate the American dream, but instead it resulted in tons of unsupervised and poor teens, turning to gangs. Unless the parent is a gang member, most of the parents are simply naive... and are living under the radar, and have no clue. Â
@StringerJoe I don't condone illegal immigration in any way. However, most of those "gang-bangers" we constantly hear about on the news are not  illegal. So stop trashing illegals for the acts that stupid US born kids do. Â
@Grumpa @yeahguy , Well, their hard-working, law-abiding friends and relatives are taking the jobs Americans won't do, and keeping down the price of produce, so in the end it's all worth it, right?
@GrumpaOK van winkle time to wake up
