Police: Fertilizer thief may want to blow up McDonald's

SEATTLE -- The man suspected of stealing fertilizer from a store in White Center may be the same person who recently threatened to blow up a West Seattle McDonald's, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to the police report for the incident, the man entered a store in the 9400 block of Delridge Way Southwest around 1:45 p.m. Monday and hid a can of fertilizer under his sweatshirt.

The man later switched the fertilizer to inside his pants and attempted to leave the store without paying, according to the report.

When a store employee tried to stop the man, the man bit the employee's arm and ran off, according to the report.

The officer who spoke to the store employee and reviewed surveillance video said he believes it's possible the thief is the same person who recently threatened to create a bomb and blow up a McDonald's in Westwood Village. But, he couldn't be certain.
