Police: Knife-wielding thief gets $5, winds up in jail
SEATTLE - Five dollars was enough to fend off a knife-wielding thief during a robbery in the Industrial District, according to police, who later found the suspect, arrested him and took back the $5.
A man and his partner were pulling their truck, trailer in tow, into a warehouse in the 900 block of South Bayview just before 9 p.m. Friday. Police say when the driver got out of the car to punch in the door code he noticed the suspect quickly approaching from a bush.
According to Seattle police spokeswoman Renee Witt, the victim recalled a previous encounter with the same suspect, describing him as an "aggressive transient." The victim tried to enter the door code as fast as possible but the suspect reached him before he was able to get back in his truck.
Holding an 8 to 10 inch knife above his head, the suspect demanded money from the victim. Witt says the victim handed him $5 and the suspect took off.
An officer responding to the call found the suspect at Airport Way and South Lander Street. He was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of robbery. Both the knife and $5 were recovered.

My new cure for the 'mentally unstable' is a bullet to the temple.
And state pays more to keep him in jail. so know we all lose. see a gun could have shot him and problem solved the prob. but know we need gun control what about phacking idiot control
5 bucks doesn't even cover my Venti latte.
Must've been desperate for a cheap ass snack! Wow! A whole damn 5 bucks!
All these bums and thugs committing these crimes need a 115 grain cure
No Ankle Biter, this is when I pull out my 45 and blow the scum into his next life.
What a low life. Now, we get to pay for his medical check ups, meals, showers, etc. He will be out to repeat within 90 days.
Isn't it about time we get serious about banning knives in this country? Â I don't need to cut my steak; I can rip it apart with my teeth.
@Tim Lane Actually, none of this is this guys fault since he is mentally unstable----thats the new American way.....
This is when you pull out the baseball bat.
I motion our legislature to ban these 8-10" assault knives... We can cut our steaks with a reasonable 4" knife.
@rallenjr   What could the average citizen need a huge knife for in the first place. Where is the outcry to protect our children from mass stabbings. This should be a wake-up call. Hello ,,, is our government out there.
What a stupid fool. Guess that's why he's on the streets.
@Chico  Lets examine this closely ,,,, mentally challenged transient with a large knife. Why wasn't a background check run on him when he purchased that knife. I say we should ban large knife sales in Seattle and have a knife buy back.
