Police: North Seattle woman finds strange man in her apartment
SEATTLE -- After four unsolved attacks on women in North Seattle in the past week, a Roosevelt resident had reason to be afraid when she arrived home Tuesday night to find a strange man in her apartment.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the woman tried to enter her apartment in the 900 block of Northeast 70th Street at 5:19 p.m. when a man inside her apartment slammed the door on her.
Scared, the woman ran to a neighbor's apartment to call 911.
The man left a short time later, and was last seen walking north on Roosevelt, according to police.
Officers arrived with a K-9 unit but were unable to find the man.
The burglar is described as a thin black man in his 30s about 5-feet-7-inches tall with short, balding hair. According to police, he was last seen wearing a black beanie, white shirt, heavy black jacket and blue jeans and carrying a white trash bag and black backpack.
I guess "strange" is the new politically correct term.
You'll notice he was last seen "walking" from the scene. Criminals have no fear of being caught anymore. And even if they are caught, what then? A few months/years in prison and out he comes more street-wise than he went in. It's just lose-lose anyway you slice it!
Pretty clear from recent news that Seattle is run by the criminal element. SPD's neutering by the Justice Dept (justified, granted) has given the criminals the ability to be bold and they are running with it. If you live in Seattle, be aware, be ready to defend yourself at any given time. If so inclined, obtain your CPL and carry whenever possible.
I know this is story is important. But reading the head line woman finds strange man in apartment. Would it be ok if she found a normal man in her apartment?
@Exiled_Patriot I also liked that the recent spate of assaults in the area gave her reason to be afraid, as if it would be perfectly normal and acceptable otherwise to have a strange man slam the door in your face and shove you out of your own apartment...
(We're just pickin' on ya here, Michael; you're by far one of the strongest writers on the KOMO team. Don't let us run you off; we need you to stick around and so does KOMO. :D)
Not blaming the victim here, just wondering how it happened: had she left the door unlocked, did he break a window, did he somehow have a master key for the complex?Â
Yeah...seriously what was the SPD response time here? I'm surprised that they didn't catch him.Â
Proof that people need to carry guns on them. She called the cops and how long did it take before they arrived? Way to long. He could have had his way with her and then they would have been calling her family to tell them that she is dead. Better to call the perps family to let them know what a dirt bag he WAS.
Strange man...that kind of made me laugh.
me too - uh ohÂ
