Marysville police: Partying neighbors tackle stabbing suspect
MARYSVILLE, Wash. - A man who allegedly stabbed a relative and then confronted neighbors at a backyard party with two knives was tackled and held by the neighbors while the victim ran to get help from another neighbor, police said.
The drama unfolded Sunday morning at about 3:30 a.m. when police received a 911 call from a residence in the 5000 block of 139th Place NE. The 911 callers told dispatchers there was a man on their front porch who had blood on his face.
At the same time police received a second 911 call from the house directly next door where the residents were having a backyard gathering. They reported a man had just jumped over their fence carrying two knives and that people at the party had grabbed him and held him on the ground, waiting for police.
Police rushed to the scene. An investigation found that the suspect, a 30-year-old man, had stabbed his relative, a 26-year-old man, at a third residence across the street, said Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux of the Marysville police.
The suspect was taken into custody for questioning before being booked at the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault, Lamoureux said.
The victim was taken to an Everett hospital with multiple non life-threatening stab wounds.
Detectives are in the process of securing a search warrant to enter into the residence where the stabbing took place to search for evidence.
“We do not yet know what transpired before the stabbing took place and continue to investigate,” Lamoureux said.

Ban assault weapon knives and any multi stabbing capability blades!
Knives are not the problem. Guns are not the problem. The problem lies with the people. We as a society have taught our children that caring only about yourself is okay. We have taught them they will not face any consequences for their actions. We have taught them not to respect others. If you don't believe me read some of the threads on this site. We sit in our homes anonymously and type our comments. We call other posters opinions stupid and cal them idiotic. You may not agree with someone else but they have a right to their opinion. We HAVE to get back to reespecting ourselves and others. How many of us were taught manners but never use them. How many of us walk into a store and never make eye contact with the cashier or say thank you. Think about it this Holiday season.
Oh goodie, now all the "Anti Knife Nuts" can call out of the wood work and try to take everyone's knifes away and we can just chew apart everything we wanted to cut. Next thing they will be wanting to take the gravel out of our yards for whatever.
What a fool! Had to hear the party yet he jumps the fence anyway. Maybe he's deaf and the relative made an obscene gesture. Who knows what sets these people off.

Good job neighbors!
We have to start pulling our heads out of the sand and start passing bills that will stop these evil knives from controlling people's brains. (sarcasm "on")
@cawlnaduckaduck If he would have only had a gun probably 6 - 8 people would be dead now.
@cyclops  @cawlnaduckaduck If someone at the party had a gun, only one person would be dead. The right person.
Â
@Melissa Angevine No...a bunch would be dead including the "right" one and the strays that got the "wrong" ones. Â
Sounds like a nice neighborhood, people getting stabbed, other neighbors partying outside at 330 in the morning. Gotta love Marysville.
@The Natural I used to live a couple blocks away from this. It is a very nice neighborhood. It has an active homeowners association. The problem is that there have been so many forclosures that many houses are now rentals. You can't blame an entire neighborhood when it is one house.
Ah yes, tis the season. Merry Christmas everyone!
