Teen girl attacked by stranger in Columbia City

SEATTLE -- A stranger grabbed a 14-year-old girl around the neck and tried to pull her to the ground while she was walking home Tuesday night in Columbia City, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, the girl had gotten off the Metro Route 7 bus shortly before 9 p.m. and was walking home near 34th Avenue South and South Oregon Street when someone came up behind her and grabbed her around the neck.

The girl was able to kick her attacker in the groin, causing him to loosen his grip, and escape, according to police.

The girl ran home, and the man didn't follow her.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area to no avail. And, the girl was treated for minor injuries to her throat.

The attacker is described as a black man in his mid-20s. He is approximately 170 pounds and 5-feet-8-inches tall with short hair cut in a fade. According to police, he has hair on his chin and was wearing a gray Nike sweat jacket and gray sweat pants.
