Police: Armed robbers stole woman's car, tried to run from police
SEATTLE -- Police here have arrested two suspected carjackers accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint early Monday.
The incident occurred near Third Avenue and Prefontaine Place South at approximately 3 a.m.
The woman was standing outside, smoking, when a man approached her and asked for a cigarette. The man then pulled out a gun wrapped in a black scarf and held the woman at gunpoint as a second man rifled through her pockets, taking cash and car keys.
The men demanded the woman tell them where her car was parked, then sped off in the car toward the Central District.
The woman called 911, and police spotted her car at 12th and Yesler several minutes later. Officers tried to pull over the car, but the driver refused to comply, running several red lights in an attempt to elude police.
The driver eventually crashed to a stop near 30th and Yesler where he and the passenger ditched the car and fled on foot.
Officers searched the area and found one of the suspects walking near 31st and Jackson with the robbery victim's purse in hand.
Canine officers helped locate the second suspect, who was found hiding under a porch at 29th and Washington. Officers found in his possession the victim's cell phone, several rocks of cocaine and three counterfeit $100 bills.
Both men have been booked into the King County Jail for investigation of robbery and car theft.
Investigators are looking for two additional suspects. They said a man and a woman were riding with the arrested pair while they tried to run from police. No description was available.

Great. Now we have to worry about these two thugs when they get out...
No streets are safe at 3am.
@DrugFighter I hope with the new change coming to Olympia , that the new Govenor will take a long hard look at Dan Pacholke and the likes of Belinda Stewart, this current admin. is corrupt as the day is long. It needs an enema in DOC HQ's. The fluffy era on the currrent admin. needs to be revised, the convicted have more rights and freedoms than those with a clean nose. General Q public would be disgusted with the rewards given inide our walls.
See? Smoking IS dangerous!Â
Good job SPD. In this instance I would be just fine with it if officers applied unnecessary force when arresting these clowns.
Sad state of affairs when you can no longer let a stranger get within 20' of you for fear you will be assaulted, robbed or murdered.
Â
How can anyone NOT agree that if the punishment is high enough, dumbass criminals like this will choose another line of business.
Â
In other words, make the cost of doing business high enough, and it won't be worth it anymore - no matter how stoned or desperate they are.
Â
But alas... this is Washington state where we believe hugs work better than actual punishment.
While the victim got away alive, her "punishment" (a wrecked car that she's going to have to pay for, unless she has full coverage) is more costly than the actual criminals' punishment. The perps are now staying at the Greybar Hotel at OUR expense, receiving 3 square meals a day, free medical care, free legal help and other bennies.
Â
Disgusting.
@DrugFighter these are career criminals, nothing else they can or want to do, and most of them have not much to lose so you advocate capital punishment for robbery non-sense all day, the fear of death is not a deterrence to these people.
@DrugFighter The penalty for murder is death.  Has that stopped anybody?  The penalty for rape is 25 years or greater.  Has that stopped anybody?  You are patently wrong that more extreme punishment works--  it just costs me more tax dollars.  Hugs don't work either, but incarceration with rehabilitation does, sometimes.  And nothing works all the time.  But, the way you make it out, jail is so good why doesn't everybody just go there.  Your reasoning is just like your "facts"-- vacuous and inaccurate. Â
@MPS If the death penalty is not a deterrent, then at least it will make sure they don't commit the same (or any) crime again. And for those that retort that the death penalty is more expensive that locking someone up for life.... I would submit that we're not doing it right, notwithstanding the great work The Innocence Project does.
@MPS  @DrugFighter Jail is horrible place and no one enjoys it, they try to survive it. There are a lot of criminals who'd rather face death than going back to jail.
@DrugFighter Well, if imprisonment is not a sufficient punishment for robbery, what would you suggest? Torture? Execution?
@Sutekh Torture is reserved for the CIA, for when they need to get info from a prisoner. Execution is good for some criminals, but not all. Wouldn''t apply to these numb-nuts, only good for those that grossly harm or kill others.
I am really glad that the victim is ok.  Too bad their accident wasn't fatal.....
filth, and dumb
