Police asking sexual assault victims to come forward
Timothy L. Dampier is seen during his arraignment in King County Superior Court on Monday, May 23, 2011.
SEATTLE -- Seattle police believe an accused child rapist likely victimized even more children than they know about, and they're asking those victims to come forward.

Tim Dampier was arrested in May, 2011 and is currently in jail awaiting trial on charges of child rape, child molestation, sexual exploitation of a minor, and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

Prosecutors know of at least 10 victims in the case, but an ongoing investigation suggests more victims are out there, according to police.

"We want to ensure that any and all victims receive not only the assistance they need, but justice," Detective Jeff Kappel said in a news release. "Just because the suspect is in custody is not a reason to not come forward with information about additional crimes that may have been committed."

Dampier was a well known church musician and foster parent who had been involved in a number of Seattle-area youth programs at the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, Ruth Dykeman Children's Center, Ruther Child Center, Samuel House, Union Gospel Mission and Seattle Parks and Recreation.

Anyone who was victimized by Dampier is asked to call the Seattle Police Sexual Assault Unit at (206) 684-5575. Anonymous tips are welcome.
