SEATTLE -- A bomb squad safely detonated some explosive material that was discovered at a South Seattle home Wednesday afternoon.
Police were actually called by the homeowner Tuesday evening that her tenant might be making explosives. Investigators went to talk to the homeowner and did find explosive material in the home, but they don't think it was part of any dangerous plot.
"It appears to be a homemade deal where he was making improvised explosive devices for target shooting so when he would shot his targets, they would explode," said Sgt. Cindi West with the King County Sheriff's Office.
The bomb squad was able to safely expose of the material and no one was hurt. West said the 10800 block of Forest Avenue South was evacuated for a couple of hours while the explosives were dealt.
The man was arrested and booked for investigation of manufacturing explosive devices.

This was simply Tannerite and is legal in all 50 states so as long as you don't mix it and then transport it. Idiots.

Seriously, did ANYONE bother to proofread this story? Pretty sure they were able to safely DISPOSE of the material, and I'm pretty sure the explosives were dealt WITH. Spellcheck has made journalists complacent. Proofread your articles before you publish them!
Always a good idea to be home making explosives in the middle of a residential neighborhood...
I would like to know what charges he is facing, if this really is just Tannerite, how is that illegal?
Are we really concerned with the way the story was delivered rather then the story itself?? People just gotta find something to complain and criticize about.....
@refinneJÂ I've seen better grammar from off market Chinese DVD player manuals.Â
@refinneJÂ A well-written news article doesn't guarantee accuracy, objectivity or a dedication to journalistic integrity but it at least suggests that either the author wasn't drunk when he/ she wrote it or perhaps that there might actually be a halfway coherent Editor on staff. Â
In the arena of words, when you're presented with a poorly-finished product one naturally loses faith in the ingredients that were used to put it all together.  If your goal is to accurately transmit information to a reader, that's a rather poor way to begin a relationship between the author and the information  consumer.
Look folks, I have been complaining about KOMO proofreading (or lack thereof) for YEARS and YEARS. At first I thought it was because KOMO did not want to pay for a copy editor.
I am now convinced, after a knowledgeable âtipoffâ, that the typos, grammatical errors, misspellings and all are intentional and purposeful. The intent is to rile up the posters who then generate more posts than they would otherwise.
I just wish my out-of-town visitors would understand this and stop laughing at the Seattle news media.
@GOATCUTTER The parent corporation has news stations in several cities the websites all have the same template and usually the same features and international stories with just specific local stories plugged into them. So who knows who is really doing the writing.
@GOATCUTTER This article was clearly written by some high school intern. I'm sure plenty of staff have seen it and are too afraid to speak up.
@GOATCUTTERÂ But there are so very many other reasons to continue laughing at the Seattle "news" media in addition to their breathtakingly inarticulate unprofessionalism. Â Perhaps if more people laughed at them they might develop an interest in embracing journalistic standards.....but then, probably not.
@Stoat @GOATCUTTER Just buy your girl scout hoax cookies and be quiet. :)
Homemade Tannerite? Interesting. But RDX is a lot more fun hehehehe
Hmmm... "...so when he would shot his targets..." I think the word SHOOT is the correct one.
This is easily the most poorly written article I've seen here. And that's saying something.Â
@lakeview ...You're right...that was *really* bad...
making homemade tannerite? Not to smart.
Tannerite comes as two separate chemicals, How do you know it was homemade?
Video of "exposing" the materials :)Â

@Watcher3Â Â Fire In the Hole!
I just like saying it for some reason...must be a guy thing.
@Elvis @Watcher3 My boys used to spend hours saying it! They used to make "bombs" with Lord knew what gross liquids/solids in water bottles as kids, and try to burst them off of every hard surface.
This is the kind of renter every landlord wants to have...
@Willow That's exactly what popped into my mind...
@Willow Just another GOOBER that watched a Red Jacket Firearm's show and ignored the warnings....
@Funky-Munky ...there are warnings?
@BuddyHolly @aintno1special @Funky-Munky ...and apparently people in Seattle proper (KOMO building) don't know how to write, so it is a wash!!
@aintno1special @Funky-Munky Yep, but people in south seattle don't know how to read
@Funky-Munky @aintno1special Those things crack me up...like the "cars can not fly" on the ford commercials!!
@aintno1special @Funky-Munky Yep.... don't try this at home.... etc.!
How do you safely "expose" of material? Also, who did they "deal" the explosives to?
What wonderful proof reading!!
@ScienceGirlWell, I am just glad they were not exposing their material unsafely! That would be a whole different story.
@aintno1special nicey, nice.... well done... cracked a smile!
@ScienceGirl And it was so SHORT too. You could basically proof read it by a glance.
@ScienceGirl (jeepers) That was written terribly!
