Police hope man seen on camera key to solving Puyallup hit-and-run
Editor's Note: The day after this story was originally published, Puyallup Police reported the man came forward and they do not consider him connected in any way to the case.
PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Police here are hoping to talk to a man who might have information about a hit-and-run case where a driver struck a 15-year-old girl Thursday night in Puyallup.
The girl had just left the Golden Rule grocery store and was in a crosswalk on West Stewart Avenue when she was hit by a full-sized SUV, according to Capt. Scott Engle with the Puyallup Police Department. The driver sped off in an SUV -- likely eastbound on W. Stewart Ave.
On Saturday, a man walked into the Golden Rule grocery store just after midnight and asked an employee about the store's surveillance cameras -- specifically if their cameras could see the road out front, police said. The man then asked the employee if he could view their tapes from the night of the crash to see if the cameras could see license plate numbers.
Police didn't say if the man was granted access to the videos.
Meanwhile, the teen had successful major surgery over the weekend but is still recovering at a local hospital.

He is now on my 'suspect' list. I am pretty sure the Popo would know if he was a friend of the family or relative. Note to Golden Rule, put a camera or two lower, around 5½' behind the counter.
Did the cops look at the surveillance tape to see if this guy drove up in a White SUV???
There is a chance he is a friend or family member trying to be a detective and find the driver himself. A few questions and look at the front end of his cars will answer that.
@SkaBob If that is the case, I hope he comes forward quickly to let them know so he's not getting wrongfully accused.

@al_wa Good one!
SUV Driver: you are a coward. Turn yourself in.
Gee, that's not suspicious or anything.Â
@lakeview I wonder if it is a relative of the girl or if it was the jerk who hit the girl? If it was a relative or family member maybe they're being pro-active in lookin' for who ran over their family member!
@Funky-Munky @lakeview I would think the cops would have asked the family if they knew the guy before putting it out in the news.
@JK15 @Funky-Munky @lakeview  One would hope..... nothing surprises me anymore though...
Pretty clear pictures. I'm sure someone will recognize him. Kudos to the grocery clerk for coming forward with this information.
