SEATTLE – Officers are trying to piece together what led to two people getting wounded by gunfire in West Seattle Sunday afternoon.

A man and woman arrived at Valley Medical Center claiming they had been shot in West Seattle around 2:15 p.m., Seattle police said.

The couple told officers they were driving in in the 9400 block of 15th Ave. SW when they were shot at by a group of men. The man suffered a leg wound while another bullet grazed the woman's ear, police said. They're expected to recover.

But officers say they are now getting conflicting stories from the witnesses and victims on how the shooting occurred. Investigators have recovered one bullet in the street at the scene of the shooting and another damaged the back window of a van.

Gang Unit detectives are investigating the case and are asking if anyone else witnesses the event or has information on what happened, to call Seattle police.
