Police pull naked man from Green Lake
SEATTLE -- Officers hauled a naked man out of Green Lake early Friday morning after the man, who can't swim, hopped into the lake in an attempt to hurt himself, according to the Seattle Police Department.
According to police, a witness called 911 around 3:30 a.m. to report a man in the water clinging to a dock.
Officers arrived, and the man told them he had been in the water for about 30 minutes and couldn't swim, according to police.
Officers hauled the man out of the water, and he was transported to the hospital.
According to police, the man told officers he was trying to hurt himself.
Let's see...I bet he was fully clothed when he jumped in...that nasty water probably melted off his clothes. There's a reason why it's called Greenlake...full of goose turds and tons of miscellaneous biological waste and who knows what. Ick.
What is with naked men jumping into lakes? This is the second time in the past few years I have heard of this. Sound like attention seeking more than wanting to harm himself.
That is what I was thinking too... or he realized that life really isn't that bad,
Hmmm. Maybe we should ban Greenlake. I mean, if guns are responsible for deaths, then Greenlake must be responsible for the attempted drownings. I think we should designate it an "Assault Lake".
Or, more realistically, maybe we should address the real culprit in both issues, and that is mental health. What we really need is an effective mental health system that can manage those people and their needs.
Of course, what will really happen is the Mayor and City Council will instead choose to commission the construction of a 12' , razor wire topped fence around the lake, at a cost, initially, of several million dollars, but, because someone didn't measure right, and also decided to use different pain, it will double the cost. Oh, and they'll throw in banning guns, just for good measure...
Lots of sick peeps in our world.
I didn't think that Green Lake was safe to swim in??????
definitely isn't now... No telling what he did in the water...
I wish more people with mental problems would jump in the lake instead of doing things that make other people want to make more useless feel good laws about firearms.
Someone should have thrown that guy a cinder block.Â
Where do you put the "cuffs"Â
Yikes, hope he was disinfected before getting on the gurney...
Wow! Couldn't even drown himself. Lame grab for attention.
Brrrrrrrrrr  30 minutes in cold water? Surprised he didn't die of hypothermia.
What is it with naked guys and Green Lake? Does the milfoil feel good on the.....
Never mind.
@Throbbinhood If so...kind of went against his attempts to hurt himself!
Yet another mouth to feed for cash-strapped Seattle. Turn him over to a church.
@NW-Economist Throw him back teach him to swim.
He was attempting to hurt himself, couldn't swim, spent about 30 minutes in the water, and had to be pulled out? Sounds like either a drunk...or a huge cry for some help. Hope he gets the help he needs!
