Police: teens use Craigslist ad to rob man at gunpoint
SEATTLE -- Police are looking for a pair of armed robbers who used a Craigslist ad to lure in a victim Thursday evening.
The victim put an ad on Craigslist saying he wanted to buy an iPhone, but police say when he met with the purported sellers at 31st Avenue and East Yesler Way, they robbed him.
The robbers, who are both thought to be 15- to 16-years old, arranged to meet the victim at 6:30 p.m. When he arrived to buy the phone, the teens pulled out a gun and robbed the man of his cash and his phone.
Police searched the area but came up empty. No detailed description of the teens is available.

First story I read ... booo .....No description? give us neighborhood? Bothell or Burien we will use our imagination? Oh by the way KOMO this happens everyday... and sometimes its not a stupid phone, its a under age girl being forced into some something she wont know was a bad idea for another 10 years. KOMO u suck... And I am Banned!!! hate making new IP addresses. Yeah rough night of crown royal to the more observant ones.
No descriptions available.......yeah, sure. Â
Well, it's a creative use of technology, that is for sure. I suppose anyone interested in anything on Craigslist ought to be a little suspicious at first, anyway. Poor guy. I hope they catch those mofos so someone else doesn't get tricked.
31st & Yesler after dark? Why not just set the money on fire and stay home? It would be a lot safer that way and have the same result.

Some people are too stupid to be allowed out without a leash.
Meet at the Mall, at the police station, at city hall, at Starbucks, etc. Somewhere with people - never at home, unless you have people fully checked out. Do not give out your phone number if it's listed. Check their phone numbers whether it's a land line or listed. Be careful with gmail, yahoo, and hotmail email addresses, email addresses with large employers, known businesses, ISPs such as Comcast, where you have to be under contract etc. are ok. Remember: Serious buyers or sellers will understand you taking precautions. If you have an item for sale or to buy that is too large to bring to a public venue, ask the other party for their business phone and call them at their office. Offer the same in return, if they ask.
@Komo Dragon In this case it didn't matter.
@Half-Baked  @Komo why? did they meet at a public location?
Here komo let me help you out. Directly off the sped blotter site. Both suspects are described as black males, 5â8â³ to 6 feet tall and 15 to 16 years of age. One suspect had a black jacket, baseball cap, and dark pants. There is no further description at this time of the second suspect.
@geodawg This politically correct not mentioning race thing is getting very very tired. Only a moron would write a news article about an armed robbery and not include a description of the suspects.

31st Avenue and East Yesler Way? Gee, what could go wrong in that neighbourhood.
