Police use GPS to track down alleged burglar
SEATTLE -- With the help of a tech-savvy child, Seattle police were able to track down a burglar who made off with a family's electronics.

Police say the burglar broke into a house in the 2200 block of 12th Avenue East sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning.

When the family woke up, they noticed numerous items were missing and called police.

After interviewing the family, officers learned that one of the stolen electronic devices was equipped with GPS tracking software. One of the kids in the family loaded a tracking app on another computer that showed the stolen device was in downtown Seattle.

Officers were dispatched to a fast food restaurant near 3rd and Pine, where they found a man sitting with a brown duffel bag at his feet that matched the description of a bag that was stolen from the home.

Police say when they entered the restaurant, the man with the bag immediately got up and left.

Police stopped him in the Metro bus tunnel near 4th and Pine and began questioning him about the burglary.

The man denied any wrongdoing, but when a member of the family called their stolen cell phone, the officers could hear it ringing in the man's pocket.

The 21-year-old man was arrested and booked into King County Jail for investigation of possession of stolen property.
