Psychiatric hospital proposed for Snohomish Co.

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A new psychiatric hospital is being proposed for Snohomish County with an inpatient unit for children and adolescents.

The Daily Herald reports Texas-based US HealthVest plans to build a $18.8 million 75-bed facility in Smokey Point. If it receives approval from the state health department, the facility could open in late 2015 or 2016.

About 20 percent of the hospital beds would be set aside for children and adolescents.

A public hearing on the proposal is set for Oct. 17.
